I thin they changed the name of the town just so that it rhymes with kannibaal!!Tongue

The Grand Prix Sven Nys or GP Sven Nys is a cyclo-cross race held in Baal, Belgium. The race is named after cyclo-cross legend Sven Nys who is a citizen of Baal. Nys won his "own" race seven out of nine times it was organized. The race is part of the Cyclo-cross Gazet van Antwerpen.

I did one - yes ONE Cyclocross race in the UK. It is by far the hardest "cycling" event I've ever done.

 

It went like this: start horn sounded - heart rate went to max - stayed there for 90 minutes - I collapsed at the finish in a useless pile of sweaty flesh.

 

It is a fine mix of road racing, mountain biking, mud collection, cross country running and falling (nobody gets away clean) - all done at sprint pace.

 

Pity they don't have a series over here...
