my mate and my polar watch doesnt work properly.
the hr reading shows 0 then gives proper reading then jumps to 260 etc etc.

polar recommended i put the hr strap excluding the transponder into the washing machine with clothes for 1 wash... you meant to do it every 5-10 training sessions. ive NEVER heard of this and was quite shocked!!

Can't see how the strap influences HR if everything is properly secured around your chest. smiley5.gif

1) The strap must be tight enough.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

2) Wet the strap(electrodes) before you start.

3) I found that it will some times not pick up at the start of the ride until you start sweating, especially in winter and if you hit a down hill.  It is usually not a problem after the first 5 minutes.

Polar?s service in GP is exceptional, simply the best after sale service I have experienced. Clap

I got a busted up (casing in two pieces) speed sensor from a friend. They had a look at it told me the are some water damage on the PC board, that I could not see, and build it in a new casing for R110.

They also recommend that you don't leave the sensor part connected to the strap (this is on the newer Wearlink sensors).

I find I get very bad connection problems for the first session or two after I wash the strap. It seems to be a conduction problem. Once a nice layer of sweat/salt/electrolyte has built upDead it works properly.

I keep on meaning to try some conductive gel to see if that fixes the problem, but haven't yet got round to that.

Anyone know where I can get some conductive gel (for the HR strap)?

Someone is bound to start a ride- gotta look at the Hauwteng road map to see how far 4ways is from Edenvale' date=' or else there is a ride from Edenvale. So aren't you doing the 94.7? [/quote']

There will probably be a ride starting from the Karaglen Shopping Centre parking lot - starting at 06h00.  Distance usually around 45Km.  Team Edenglen.

Polar's service for Capies suck!  A week to get a battery changed because you have to courier it to them because they can't get a watch shop in the Cape to do it.  Pathetic.

And how is it their problem that perhaps none of the shops in wp meet their quality criteria? Perhaps they have high standards to maintain and the only way thay can do that is by doing all of the work "in-house"? Would you prefer that they allow anyone to work on the watch and then when it packs up, they get accused of having a lousy product?
