Orthotics/Shoe inserts

Can a Huber sugest a person, service or product that can sell/supply me

with some advice re orthotics for cycling shoes. I just replaced 7 year

old shoes with new Sidi dominator 5's and the shoes are noticably

stiffer but after about an hour of riding the arches of my feet start

hurting, nothing major just annoying, help would be appreciated

please keep us all updated about the arches of your feet.  THis is an annoying and debilitating cycling injury that can hurt your running.  So if you find a solution I am all ears.

The best advice is to go to a pediatrist and take your cycling shoes along and your running shoes if you also jogg. My pediarist took my normal inserts of the shoe and melted a little insert that sorted me out!(cost me R150)The fit of the shoes might also be wrong, its fine if the sole is stiffer but if the shoe is too narrow, its too narrow. If something works stick with it, how much faster would those ultra stiff magnesium soles make you go if your feet hurt??

I can also recommend this guy, He sorted out my feet when I was younger.

I had some knee issues after riding for more than 2 hours (about 50km for me).  I spoke to Anton at Summit Cycles and went for a full bicycle set up.  What he found was that my left foot needed additional support.  Luckily the fix was just an insert under the ball of my foot and not a full arch support so it only cost about R50.  He also made several changes to my bike setup with the assessment.  Since then I have had no trouble.

 

I was also nervous / reluctant to spend R500 - R600 just on fixing my shoes. But if you look at it logically we spend far more on our bikes and if you are unable to use it properly then that money is just wasted.
