I have just received the last account from the hospital after my crash. Medical aid has paid for everything except for one item, stitches.

 

So next time I will bring in my own supply of band aids, masking tape or string from an old tennis racket.

The reason was they are internal stitches. The hospital bill came to R107000 and the medical aid want us to pay R170. Go figure that one

Naah THEY need special couriers.  I guess they speak to the same crowd that harvest body parts from the living and leave the  donors' in in baths full of ice (urban legend?) Mine was coz I needed 2 pints (unenhanced) of blood due to an operation

 

 

Back to the topic:

A 1/1000 co-payment on a hospital bill is kinda weird, but still a lot better than a 100% co-payment!

my med aid refused to pay anything for mine, saying it was a third party claim

My medical aid paid the R60 000 bill upfront and will claim back from the 3rd party after they pay out not sure how your medical aid works

 

I had to pay R11 in :-)
