GreyOwl3.0 Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Years ago a mate and I jumped in behind a truck just by the Xumbugs meeting area...I looked up into the back of the truck and immediatly departed the chase.My friend carried on for about another 200m and noticed that all the blood from the dead carcasses on the back of the truck was pouring out onto him!! I'll keep his identity a secret coz he's a Hubber! Then, Owen Hannie and myself also jumped in behind a truck on the Alewynspoort road one sunday morning...we sat most of the road behind the truck at around 65kph...I was chatting to Owen and all of a sudden he just vanished.Poor Owen had hit a brick that was lying in the road and his front wheel just disintegrated...he was badly hurt. But I clearly dont learn my lesson...

Trubie is a responsible social rider with about 10 kg's body weight to loose to be a step champ one day

Anycase, I have pilot training scheduled for the 23rd so I'll go with the slow/short bunch while all the l00ns are chasing times on the flats of Bela-Bela. Dude' date=' you seem to forget (and I speak mostly for myself here) that anything above 35 k's an hour requires imense concentration and breathing. Above 40 I struggle to breath fast enough. Above 50, Unless freewheeling down a steep hiil, breathing becomes almost impossibleand since chatting is dependant, on an ability to breath, I guess I will never "live" to chat to you or anyone else at 65. Unless it is in the comfort of a motor driven vehicle which only affects my breathing when I get close to 250. (Oh and at that speed, the level of brown stuf in the car builds up rapidly and makes breathing a very difficult thing to do.)[img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley36.gif[/img]

Trubie Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 SlavePut on those Specialized shoes, clip into those pedals and find yrself a 70 kph truck to slipstream, and you reach 60 in no time, push little harder and you'll be on 65. Alternative - go to Hector Norris, get one of their development bikes and take a few laps round the track, you'll reach 65 in no time coming off the bank.
