I take it this is a seeding race.

Bliksem, ek het omtrent werk om te doen. (Bugger, I have my work cut out for me.)

Poor training due to laziness, winter and shortened riding hours. (circle whatever works best.I need to circle all of the above and add one or two more.)

So many women,so little time. (Oh damn, wrong forum again.) Read as so much to do, so little time.

I would like to get a decent seeding for 94.7 which is why I am doing all this work. My plan is to do somewhere in the region of 2h50 to 3 hours. To do that I need to get into a reasonable bunch and for that I need to get a seeding, never mind improve it. It's easy to improve from nowhere.

Trubes, I think you need to get on your bike on Sunday. Bring along your big stick and chase me around a bit to show me how to do decent interval training. (No,I can't pay you, but you will get some good training done yourself and alleviate that blue feeling that you have right now.)

Your body has become accustomed to it's daily dose of endorphins and you are depriving it. No wonder you're like a giraffe with a sore throat.

So while you are helping a bud, you can help yourself too.

GOv2.0, you seem to have greater faith in my legs than I do. A big bird told me it's a special day for you.

Congrats man, hope you have a super day and a great year. Happy birthday.

So, when are you planning on doing some riding with us? I need some help with intervals to get my speed up and get your stamp of approval on that new ride I got from you.

Hey.... who you calling a big bird?? smiley7.gifsmiley7.gifsmiley7.gif

Hey Nance, if the tights fit, wear them. (Read as if the hat fits, or if the boot fits. Multiple choice here.)smiley17.gifsmiley2.gif

Owls are notoriously small, especially grey ones. There is a grey Scops owl which is about the size of a cockatoo to put it into perspective.smiley36.gif Only big owls are giant eagle owls and they aren't grey. Ever noticed that people who go grey are also start getting smaller. Wait, stop, it's the grey birds special day and now I'm pulling the p!ss. (Not nice!)

So in the "scale" of things, you are a relatively big bird compared to "scopsy" who is celebrating a special day.

Even Kids kid is bigger than a scopsy and we all know that he does not tip the scales anywhere above flyweight. You in the welter weight division and lil' ol' me, well, super heavy weight hasn't been invented yet.smiley4.gif

HTF did we get to birds and boxing weight categories when we should be talking about bikes anyway. (Anyone watch the E-movie last night? All about Rocky Marciano. I know a bit about boxing but never knew he beat the Brown Bomber on his way to the top.)

So much for bird watching lessons and boxing. I jusy enetered to tour de Soweto. E-mailed the event co-ordinator and told them that in future they should have this race on June 16. It would be ideal to tie the date and the place together.

So, at the mo, I'm getting lotsa e-mails from Trubie. When I am done reading them, you may call me professor bokdrol, just like Mrs Slave does already. I should be close to having a degree in cycling, training and bunch riding.

Thanks Trubie, I am still trying to digest the one you sent me this morning and that book I borrowed from you.

Hey Slave,

I have been reading this thread with interested for awhile and the story of your first few rides. Couldn't read through each page through as you were all adding the pages faster than I could keep reading them. Hehe.

I am from up on the north side of JHB. If I may some time (once I am over this stupid flu and finished upgrading my bike), it would be great to meet up for a ride and try those steps etc of yours. Of course if you would let me ride with you.

Hey Andyr249. Welcome to the hub dude.smiley20.gif

Before we never really worried about criteria for you northern chaps to come along and cycle with us. Since we have become popular as a thread and ride group though, we have to keep the riff-raff out so the criteria has changed.

We need a deposit of R10,000, three months payslips, pedigree, Visa and one or two other things. Oxman or Nance have to check you out to see if your currency is good on this side of the railway line.

Nahh, seriously, we enjoy our rides and welcome newcomers. You're welcome to join us. Just watch this thread for special rides, otherwise we meet the usual bunch of supects at Xumbugs and ride out at around 7 am Sat and Sunday.smiley16.gif

Used to be I was recognisable by my Peejou but since she is on ill health retirement, I am recognsable as being the only one on a Petini. Still ride the Panda Kit though.

Come on down when you are over your flu and stuff. Preferably, keep it to yourself or share it with your northern mates. We don't want any of it around here.smiley17.gif

We love new recruits and our speciality is hurting them up the steps.

What do you ride?

Hi Andy,

Just to set the record straight, Slave is no longer the King Of The Steps even my son dropped him on Sunday, wait Slave claimed that his farm gate was faulty smiley2.gifsmiley2.gifsmiley2.gif

If I manage to get out of bed on Saturday I'll confirm this fact.

You are more than welcome to join us but you'll need a visa to come through to the souf, I can arrange the visa for a large sum of money (Rands not Zim dollars), PM me.

In the mean time get lots of rest!!!

Andy I hail from up norff, and so does Nancy. The whole passport scheme is a typical African money making scheme (and this time it is by wanna-be officials, not even the real ones!)

Join up with Slave&em, great bunch of guys to cycle with!

Hoe se? Lucky you put in a good word at the end otherwise we would have to invoke clause 59 of the contract and your southern privilages.

You realise that we need to keep our group clean and pure. If that means we have to scan potential new recruits and rob them of their hard earned cash, so be it. I could use that cash for plenty bike kit for myself (I mean project Walter.)

Andy, do join up most ppl on this thread are regulars on the south rides, as they stay around the block from the start. I join them from time to time for a reality check during which time some(ok all) of them inflict huge quantities of pain to my legs and ego!

Hey Ox. The dude is lucky we are still taking Visa. In a months time it will be gold mastercard only.

We so poor this end of town our reality checks bounce. Why you think we sell Visas for large sums of money?

And since you're our very special friend, we will double the fees when you need to renew your membership.

And Finally, Andy never said how far north. We are concerned that he might be an undercover Bob henchman in which case we need 40 gazillion zim dollars, sorry payemnt too late that 90 gaizillion zim dolars (oh fark, It goes up faster than I can type and post.)
Posted

Hehehehe. Your group really sounds like a great bunch of people!

I am definitely not one of Uncle Bob?s henchmen. I come from a bit further north. Old Kim sent me down. ;-) Will get the embassy to arrange my visa application.

<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Bike details are as follows: Trek 1500 currently with Ultegra and Bontrager Select wheels. Hope to soon have Eastons and SRAM Red though.

Well I did the Emperors Palace race in 2:31 and the windy race in the very very very far south in 2:27. Carnival City race was a disappointing 2:48 but that was first time back on bike after a bad crash at Emporers race.

As for vital stats Nance and WW are going to have to do the calf measurements themselves to ensure accurate measurements. ;-)

Other information will be provided in due course. For additional information: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=1198&PID=795365#795365
