Yep. SBR on 06 June 2009.

I hope like h3ll my legs can recover in time for Fountains.

This will be my second ride in the reserve and the first was aborted halfway up the second climb. (It was way too hot' date=' windy and downright unpleasant to face whole new worlds of pain.)

So this timeI go in without the car and driver to bail me out. Get there on own steam and get home on own steam = HUGE levels of pain.

And we do this for FUN????????????

Nancy, it seems like it is time to introduce the southeners to teh undulations of the cradle loop. Not even to speak of the Krugersdorp hill and Robert Broom drive smiley36.gifsmiley18.gif

Maybe we should organise a ride out west for all our southern buddies?

Hi Kid, I like ur kid, Kid.

Indigo Kid's kid - does that make you a grandad? We thought so at Rietvlei last week.

Yes, I could do the extra 80-90kms to / from my place - just call me lazy, it's fine.

Got 175km CreamyTart the following week so I'll be doin the stupid distances then.

For the kdp hill have a look at http://connect.garmin.com/splits/6089735

Switch over to metric (top right), and go to splits for these km splits:

SplitTimeDistanceElevation GainElevation Loss
2600:03:231495
2700:03:371550
2800:03:531660
2900:03:311318

So what you guys say? Wanna go for a wild ride in the west?

That is where I normally ride. K-Hill is quite cool! Where do you and Nancy ride from? I normally park at Riverstone Lodge.

Eish,so many directions going here at the same time. Y'all trying to foncues me?

Kid, so it'll be brass monkeys on Saturday and Sunday. I need to try out my new tights anyway. Just a bit worried about the hands. Mrs. Slave is making me a fine jacket which will be marketable in the next week or so, just in time for the real cold of winter. Orders and sizes are open. Do you wnat pouches or not? Custom made parachute jackets in bright yellow with reflective spots.

I digress. So this weekend is just a little teaser. Sunday I plan to go long loop and then through Henley past SBR and home.

It's ony 30 k's from my place (to the entrance, depending on which one), so Mr. Bond et al, why not park at my place and we all ride out together, or we can meet at Rietvlei or the circus? I will ride to either place. Circus seems to be a good option, say meet there about 8:30 when it is a bit warmer.

May be a h3ll of a ride in the SBR, but I gotta do it sometime.

Ox, I just met Jonathan (not sure of his hub name and we weretalking of riding out there in the west. Cradle of human kind.

Organise it dude and let me know. I'll make a plan to come out there and ride a new route with some new faces for a change. I understand they leave from Cycle hub at 7 (Foruways.)

Do I need to put up R10 gorillas and get a Visa? (Kid, how's that contact you have for counterfeit documents. He any good?)

We can always arrange a bit of quid pro qu.

Yip Slave, things can be quite expensive up north so the visa you require will only cost you US$10000 and take 34 months. However for a further US$5000, paid to my account in Switzerland, I can get your visa done in half a day. ;-)

I ride with the Lab guys, and girls, and it is usually about 75km. The one problem is the traffic in the Fourways area when you return from the Cradle area. So lately I have been parking at Riverstone Lodge and riding from there. Krugersdorp Hill is 3km away and then the Cradle loop can be ridden in a few configurations depending on the distance you want. Nice ride, quite undulating.

Sounds like something I should do soon.

Get to do some new routes and meet new people.

So what about the quid pro quo dis-ting? For the price you quoting, I can get the visa and a new bike in an hour. Kid knows people who know people and they know some people as well. He's conected, our blue / purple child. He knows Joe Bond and Joe knows James and Ben etc.

So maybe meet up for a ride after the fountains. Next two weeks is going to be some hectic stuff going down south with my prep and I can definitely make a plan after Fountains.

Oxman, make the arrangements dude. (The visa and all that stuff.) Not more than 10 Zim Dollar' ok? Love you long time.

I actually don't cycle a lot, my only rides are with the club (Cresta Wheelers) and they do various routes, and then with Slave and 'em in the south.

I have no idea where to park for a Cradle ride, only ever ridden there o the MTB at Teak place - but the driveway at Teak will snakebite any and all skinny wheels!

Earliest possible weekend might be 27/28 June smiley3.gif

Riverstone Lodge is a great place to park. It is between Avianto and the N14. Roughly 3km along the N14 (towards PTA) from the intersection at bottom of Krugersdorp Hill. They have security guards and it is properly paved so road tyres don't get bitten. And parking is free.

Oxman, dude. I said arrange it. If it's for the weekend of 27 or 28 June that seems to fine for me right now (Subject to confirmation with the minister of home affairs.)smiley2.gif

There must be plenty places to park a car. Cresta is one, Cycle Lab Fourways etc. I'm just a little nrevy parking my wreck anywhere in the north cause they'll think it's been abandoned.

Let us make it a fixed date event then for Saturaday 27 June smiley1.gif smiley20.gif

I'll upload a pic of the route if&when the hub allows me to do so.

Who can help with more precise directions to Riverstone

Maybe we should start a separate thread for this Wild West Road Ride ...
