Ox, there is a wonderful view of the sea from TOC at the SBR.

I have a deal with the sharks, I stay out of the ocean and they stay out of the pubs.

Trubie it is on the technical stuff where you become strong (in mind' date=' in legs, and in upper body!)

Spinning around a place like NF is kewl, but does not add much more to your cycling repertoire than what road cycling does... It is just a safer environment... Once a while some technical stuff should be added to the training regime (It will help to be able to bunny hop the ditches and kerbs on your road bike!)

The past week was not THAT bad 9eventually) - ran my fastest recorded 5km since high school on Thu, did 35km @ NF on sat  (Great work on the shock Johan Bornman! - thanx she's working like a charm again! [img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley4.gif[/img])

Sunday moning I did a 10-12 km scouting trip of the route before the time - tapering? What tapering!?!?

So, do I look weak to you, that you wanna get me strong?

You are clearly overtraining, no wonder your body goes into shock and resists any more punishment.

Ok so lets challenge you lot to training hours (& kilometers) for the last 4 weeks... summarised per discipline (run/road bike/mtb/gym strength/general cardio...etc) and see who trains the most smiley2.gif

Show me yours and I'll show you mine (training log) smiley36.gif

you win Ox, you win.

Some of have to train very hard to achieve our levels of mediocrity (yours truly, in partucular.)

I can't speak for anyone else, but at a guestimate, Trubies results are what they are because he is doing the right stuff. Me, I just mindlessly ride my bike for hours on end because I enjoy it so much.

Imagine how bad I would suck if I did the same amount of training you do?

You will win hands down. All that running , cross training and what not else ........

So its a no contest really.

I train, but not on my bicycle.

I allow for recover time; but not always enough, mostly too much.

Am still interested to see who does what smiley2.gif and how much of it

Er, Andy, every ride I have is quality (well, maybe yesterday sucked a bit what with the headwinds)

Anything on my bike that takes me away from home for hours on end is dam fine quality.

I am not too into all this techno mumbo jumbo stuff. I just wanna ride my bike. The more the merrier.

The only cross training I do is when I get cross with motorists for hooting for no good reason and I have to go home and change my shorts, take a shower and clean the bike before I ride some more. I really hate when I start out with blue shorts and they end up brown. Makes my bike look and smell funny too.

Interval is when I stop for a smoke break. Cadence is what I do when I have been out on the road for a long time and am keen to get home because I ran out of smokes on the road.

Average is how many smokes I have per ride. And heart rate is the result of cross training.

See, it's all very easy stuff. Don't know why I got so in a tizz about RTFM. Nothing complicated.

BB hours per week, or minutes per day (HOURS per day anybody?) sounds kewl as everybody does different things with different goals for each session

Average ride dist 47 k's this year at an average speed of 29 kmph.

Last year average ride dist 31 k's per ride at ana average 28 kmph.

Forgot to add that its a mere 161:31 hrs for the year so far.

Do the maths as to how much hrs/min per day?

Not merely enough to be competing against the Oxman

I remember a previous time this came up there are hubbers that ride some crazy stuff as far as hours and k's go. Kilometers again is difficult to compare for guys who MTB and ride road bikes as you will ride somewhat less k's for the same time on an MTB .............

I did ride more than 10 000k's last year to which my wife promptly commented 'that's more than I did in my car!'
