That is why I go. No gym bunnies' date=' no posers, no nothing... Plenty of equipment to use at my leisure!

What equipment do you plan on using ?

1 x bike & 1 x treadmill ??

Come on OX you have my permission to have this evening off ?

Go visit your GF, it's cold and smiley2.gifsmiley2.gifsmiley2.gif

@Trubie

You the man!!!!

What time you doing the 100km tomorrow ??

Went out normal time from Xbugs, met up with the leaders of the creme de la creme of the south pack(5am gang), and the 3 of us decided to do Bosco's (rode with main group untill after Bosco downhill where they turned right, we went further on and then turned right) , gave me 75k's, but I am glad didn't go longer, would have been little bit less pleasant ride then. The bunch wasn't very aggressive , so it was nice tempo riding, lotsa chatting, & great fun (all the reasons why someone should be cycling)

for those that are interested, the temp at bottom of Walkerv climb was 0 deg C, 2 at the top, ave for the ride 5, so even colder than the 8 on the recent WWRR, but not all that cold at the start - 2.smiley18.gif

So I rode the full loop of Suikerbosrand today. It was a little windy' date=' about the same as the first time I rode there a few weeks ago.

Time was 2h12m exactly.

Profiled the major climbs.

1. First Ascent. 2.3km. 8%.

2. Dam Hill. 0.3km. 6.6%.

3. Long Drag. 1.4km. 6.7%.

4. Trubie Climb. 0.9km. 7.2%.

5. Bridge Hill. 0.5km. 6.4%.

6. Final Climb. 1.6km. 8.4%. (I took the measurement from the start of the railings where it starts to kick up and not those little bumps).

Interesting stuff!!

Looks like you had a good ride. This means we can actually yrt do 2 laps in less than/just about 5 hrs?

Thanks A, its strange how that Trubie climb feels more severe than the others. Guess its because its so short but yet very steep?

Good ride, yesterday am was perfect for riding skies were clear, not too cold, crap head wind on our way back though.

It was a great ride thanks. Yes. Two laps should take about 5 hours to do. The road before Trubie Climb is flat with a slight downhill before the climb starts. The best way is to get some speed on the flat and slight downhill part. That will carry you to about the right turn. Then it is just a case of grinding it out until the top. Also bear in mind that the Bridge Hill I took from the bottom to the very top, including that bit that flattens out for a few tens of metres. That first part of it would be much steeper than 6.4%.

I was quite surprised at Dam Hill (near the power lines). Never really thought of it as a big climb, probably because it is relatively short, but it is over 6%.

Welcome back Doc.  Good to see you again. Seems you are doing very well with the water Polo.

Trubie, true commitment shown to your riding. It was so cold on Saturday that I chickened out completely and decided to spend some time on the IDT. (Yeah, Kid, I know. No substitute for riding out on the road, but at least some cardio training if nothing else.

45 minutes and it was boring as heck but at least I got some pedals turned.

Then went out for a 53 k ride yesterday and struggled like mad for the last 15 k's Every false flat was an ordeal. Just could not seem to find a deent rythm or a happy gear.

As a result of the bike jackings on the steps, I decided to do other routes and stay away from the loops and the steps. Good thing too. My neighbour Garry, was jacked yesterday.

Guys, do not venture out there alone. They will jack you, and even if you are in a group, it seems they wait on the side of the road for the stragglers who get dropped. They seem to be going for the path of least resitance by jacking alomost anyone who is alone. This really has become a HOTSPOT.

@Slave

Nice to see you on the IDT smiley11.gifsmiley32.gifsmiley36.gifsmiley36.gifsmiley36.gifsmiley36.gif

I was going to go out yesterday late morning but then just ran out of time.

Teaching MiniMe to ride his motorbike is taking time but yesterday I thought that I should use this for my cycling and wheel suck behind him, maybe I'll manage 40km/h again.

Sad to hear about Gary. I'll need to find somebody to push me up the steps.

@Trubie

You need to go and see a shrink, getting up at 4:30am on Saturday in the middle of winter to go and ride means you missing lots of brain cells

@Shawn A

Hope you get better soon bud

@doc

Enjoy your water polo.

@GO

Glad to see/hear you also taking it easy smiley20.gif

Kid, normal time for X is 7:30 in winter, not that silly time you refer to, still crazy yes, I think there was about 30 idiots that pitched on sat. secret between you and me - train when all else is sleeping/too lazy!!

Shawn - starting my 94.7 programme this week, will be at the Carousel race on 10th next month to see how much I have degressed during the winter time. This weekend will just go long on sat, maybe try and do a 100 or so, sunday , will have to be early am ride or IDT. Church committments early am, so early training or nothing

Are you planning on riding to Ertjies?
