Predictor...these South boytjies are scared of MTB's...they scared to get a little dirt under their nails.smiley2.gif

careful now m'am

I did my first MTB race last week at Blockhouse.

No dirt under the nails' date=' but just about everywhere else.

My missus was telling me over the weekend, the lady of the house came to her very worried when she saw this pile of dirty clothes and shoes. She wanted to know whether I had, had a bike accident?![img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley36.gif[/img]smiley36.gifsmiley36.gif

everyone takes some time to get use to thissmiley2.gif

WW, it is not the fear of dirt under the nails that is the problem.

I hate cleaning the bike afterwards. It was bad enough doing somebike maint over the weekend and cleaning the chain was one of the tasks. Got more than a little dirt under the nails. Oil, diesel and a few other bits and pieces that the cahn shed during it's monthly bath.

At least with the roadie, I can get away woth once a month. I had to clean the hybrid a short while back after one afternoon of messing around off-road.

And the other thing is the taste of all that dust.

I am def a poefter roadie. So gemaak, so ge laat staan.

BB. no not the same guy. The guy in your pic looks like a bit more of a cyclist than the commuter who "raced" me this AM.

I found it very funny that he tried so hard to beat me. I guess it was a bit wicked of me to toy with him and let him think he was in with a chance. First tiny acceleration and dropped like I did on Sunday. Really, MTB agains road, on the road = no contest unless it is a strong MTB rider.

Commuters = no contest. He was dressed for work with slacks, shirt and those slip on ("adidas" type) sandles. Pedalling with his heels. He looked to comical for words.

Slave, if you want to ride with the social bunch on Saturday then do so. But sit in the group near the back and ride slowly and easy if you take a turn on the front. They won't know what has happened. Hehehe.

KMA Kid.

One day, not to far in the future, I wnat you to come ride with us. I will ride up front with Klippies and you can hang on and see if it is just a Sunday stroll in the park. Then the next week, I want you to come ride up front with me and we'll pull the bunch along.

Riding in front has some significant advantages. It trains me to ride solo and therefore to be more self reliant. So if the race bunches drop me, I can still do a reasonable time flying solo.

See, told you I am deaf, blind and just plain stoopid.smiley5.gif

You up to it.

Slave, there aren't enough Sunday's left for me to play with the social bunch and I'm currently focusing on distance.

When I strat to focus on speed I'll come and play with you but we can do the same thing with the fast bunch.

Like Trubie said we go to the front and then we control the bunches pace.

I take it you legs is 100% now ??

Not really 100%. Took a big chance yesterday by going hard for 35 k's and it did niggle every now and then, but I just ignored it hoping the pain would go away.

So, some of the slowpokes bunch do go long. I will get enough distance on Sunday so Sat will be short. Will see if I can find those Lifestyle chaps to cycle with. They are faster than the social bunch and tend to ride at a civilised speed that is nice and steady.

Maybe the owl man will be there on Saturday and I can chase him.

I am riding SBR this sunday the 13th Sept. I am riding with my MTB full gear training for CC. I am doing a double starting from the South entrance at 08:00am. I take 3 hours per lap if anyone wants to join let me know. I will be riding silver merida full suss and whearing my Blue daytrippers shirt. Idea is slow solid riding with good climbing.

Predictor...are you loopy? Is there a padded cell reserved for you in some special institution? Dude?! WTF???!!!

Try getting a spot on Takeshi's Castle...the lunacy should be right up your alley!!!

Hey Grey, Completely of my rocker buddy. That is the only way one can justify riding down a technical rock garden at 40 KMpH. Just thinking about it makes my hair stand up straight on the back of my neck EISH I just want to go ride now. Also can use the time in the saddle of course as I am building up for the Attakwas and then the IronMan.

why is it that this thread gets all the lunies?

pred man, if you going to do ironman, you def need more than a padded cell bru.

best you join us for a ride so we can talk some sense into your head..........
