Ok, KIeran. That means we get to meet at SBR instead of Hennie Alberts and Swartkoppies. SBR opens at 7 am and we all meet in the car park at the northern end of the reserve.

Count me in. (I have a feeling I am going to be regretting this, but WTH. It can only hurt.

Trubie, bud, you in?

(makes me wonderif cyclists are all mossochists. Volunteering for pain is one thing, but to pay for it....)

Trubie, are you doing that race from Kareekloof to Meyerton and back on that Sunday?

I'm kinda tempted to do that in lieu of the suffer fest thorugh the hills that Slave/AndyR etc are planning.....

Excellent Slave and Kieran!

So that makes it Slave, Kieran, Kid and I. Come on Os and Nance! It will NOT be max pace ride I promise. Think of it this way Os - if you ride with us then you can suffer less on the N14 in 94.7 and not have to buy lunch. Nance - we can go get you a milkshake at the Circus afterwards.

Andy is right Oxman. SBR might be a tough ride, but it does have huge benefit.

When I trained for my 2001 cycle challenge, I used to live in Mondeor and there was no route I could ride that did not have hills. When it came to the 94.7 event, I managed to do a reasonable time without pushing myself.

So far, I have yet to come accross a race (except for R4V) that has anything similar to the hills of SBR.

Delgado does most of his Jock training in the SBR. That has to mean something.

Trubie, dude you racing Telkom on Sat and another race on Sunday?

I need to rest as much as possible to achieve my target for the 94.7.

BTW, I don't see how 3 hrs of torture is going to help me 14 days later.

Slave you doing 2 loops on 1 Nov 09 ??

Well you got two weeks to rest so no excuse!

It will help, combined with your other training.

We doing 1 loop, not 2. But you are welcome to do 2 if you want Kid.

Indigo, my thoughts exactly!!!!

Riding some hills once only can only do you harm (physical injury, mental anguish, you name it...)

Riding SBR ONCE, 14 days before the WFC will NOT help at all

I'd rather be riding my MTB at Babbas, or otherwise go and do that road race with Paul (failing both, I'd ride with the club on that Sunday)

Andy... the resident mountain goat, and Slave... the bloke who chases busses and trucks on his active recovery rides after a race, and who goes faster on his bike the day before and after a race than on race day

With those two riding hills with ANYBODY there is just NO chance WHATSOEVER that this ride can be a social ride and not an informal race...

Think if I go enter a race, I'd have an easier day in the saddle than riding with them! smiley18.gif

Ah my paduwans, the rule is 'if there is more than 1 of you it is a race'!

Now it seems though that some like slave would include busses and trucks in that rule but he is 'merely' misguided ........

Nope, it is doing a lap of SBR at my pace. 3 hrs.

Seriously Ox, I get tired if I even think of racing Andy. He is way too fast for me.

Best way to do SBR is to go around and take in the scenery. I alwys stop at the dam to see if there are any animals drinking and then I also stop at the Karee Kloof gate to have a breather.

Dude, I was behaved on Saturday when we all rode together right. (Well more that 95% anyway.) So, you have my word that I will behave on 1st Nov.

My best time for SBR is something that Andy considers social. It's in the region of 2hr 40. Very pedestrian for Andy. If you want, I will ride even slower than that.
