A guy was bike jacked going up the steps on Saturday.

Hummy & I did the very long Bosco loop & Hummy was battling to keep up with the group, so the two of us rode back. Another guy was dropped & called his dad to fetch him. When we were going up the steps this guy & his dad had stopped and there was another cyclists who told us to be careful as he had just been bike jacked.

I think he was riding alone.

GREYOWL, dude none of us besides Trubie will be able to ride in your organized group, we'll never keep up.

TRUBIE, you anything but unfit. Yesterday you were doing a lot of hurting to the rest of us up the steps and into a headwind. What is it with you & headwinds ? Last time you did the same thing. You preparing for a windy Argus ??

SLAVE, when you getting back on the bike ?

HA HA KIERAN, happy BiRtHdAy and many more. One of these days you'll reach adulthood....

The problem comes in that no matter how big a group is if they are armed then numbers don't trump.

What we need is to establish a database of info. How many attackers, any identifying features on them, locations of attacks, time of attacks, on-the-ground situation at time of attacks (were there any cars around on the road, terrain features etc), how many cyclists? I heard a good phrase the other day - "two points make a line, three makes a trend". Once we have established that then we can devise a Course of Action. SAPS do patrols on the spruit (had breakfast yesterday at M&B with a few) so maybe we could even get a few and set up some sort of trap. But we need the lots of data first.

I have often thought of riding with my "piece" but the thought better of it when I realised there is more chance of them hijacking me and using it against me..so skipped that plan!

This just sucks...the thing is I have seen plenty of small groups of women (2-4) even single women riding out there on these roads. Its scary. I agree something needs to be done, and anything anyone can do to start and combat this will be a welcome step in the right direction.

All the stories I've heard about bike jacking the attackers came with knives.

Was thinking about getting some pepper spray.

Sounds like you'd be better off riding with an armoured car behind you...or wearing chainmail like the Knights did!!!

Maybe the number of Lab riders in the bunch confused you somewhat Kid?!

Or that 200k's mixed up your eye's ability to see properly

When I stop playing golfsmiley2.gif Actually, I haven't been able to play that much either since my ribs kind of tickle a bit..

So for the past few weeks, I have been playing "old man's marbles".

I was assured that I am quite good at the game and have a bright future playing it. Plus, I will be able to play it for many years to come so I can get really good with loads of practice.

It doesn't get the heart rate up quite so high, but it is hours of fun. Only yhing is one doesn't quite build up any lasting friendships. Only last week one guys keeled over on the green and got carted off. I was reliably informed by one of the other temasters that Doug showed th classic symptoms of one who will never be able to play the game again.

You going to join me this weekend. We are taking on the fellas at Marks Park.

What time we meeting, how far we riding and how fast we going ???

What did Dr Bones say about them ribs ?

Add some BBQ sauce ??

Depends on how far the wite marble is from the begin point. It takes about 2 hours to play the best of 9 ends.

Haven't been to see Dr Bones. Last I saw him was the day he discharged me from prison. He did nuck fothing for my ribs anyway. He only put the plate in the shoulder.

I want to make an appintment with the GP and aks if she can justify some X-rays so they can tell me if the ribs are grown togther or still broke.

I agree though, Mikes ribs with BBQ sauce are quite the bomb. Spur are OK too, but Mikes have the best BBQ.

Then I will decide of I want to ride again. That cat and the woods I bought were frightfully expensive. So were the whites. (and no, it wasn't Tiger Woods. There would be one with a partner in every city by now it they were.)
