Well, Trubes, the weather was just fine until yo mentioned it.

Now the wind has come up and it's got cold again.

Sure Kid, why not. I commute the better part of like 300km a week, so by the time the weekend rolls around, I am like knackered and the very last thing I want to be doing is going for a fun ride of 50 to 100 km. I need to rest and recouperate on the weekends. Eat lots to replace all the energy spent during the week, snooze on the couch and watch that silly game played by 22 men all chasing a round ball around. And then the Germans win.

Besides, I think I got bugs. Had the sniffs and sneezes yesterday and today, sore throat. Runny nose doesn't help either. Been doing loads of Chiili. They tell me it has high doses of Vit C. (or was that just a sales pitch?)

All that happens is that you spend so much time in the toilet that you forget about the cold ;-)

DEUTSCHLAND!!! Great game though! The Brits were greatly outplayed!

Yip. Germany beat the whinging Poms.

No doubt they will whine about the disallowed goal for a while but even if it was allowed, I still think Germany had the beter part of them during the game.

So far, Italy and France (never even made it to the round of 16.)

England, USA, Korea, Mexico are all out of contention.

That game between Germany and England was a cracker, as was the Argentina / Mexico game. ( I missed the bit where they were apprantly still thumping each other as they made their way to the change rooms at half-time.) Is Messi ever going to score a world cup goal?

I'm just getting to be really tired of all the diving and melodrama that these ponces go through to get a free kick for their side. Are they like just taking a little lie down to rest, or maybe so their team can get a bit of rest?

Next big game I hear is Spain and Portugal. (The kid and his next door neighbours.)

My team for the duration, Brasil.

Still think the top teams will be Spain, Holland, Germany, Argentina and Brasil.

Slave you gana have to change your "top" teams list, by this weekend there will be a few more out.

Yip we have a tough one tomorrow, tough but possible for us to win.

The danger man is VILLA as TORRES as done absolutely nothing.

Then on Saturday we have Argentina vs Germany - I'm going to back Argentina for a win, they just play too well.

Glad you keen for a ride, we'll meet at 5am on Saturday and do 130km, should be a breeze for you.

BTW, I'll bring the tow rope so I can slow you down a little.

You should be eating lots of Kiwi's not chilli...

The Argies and Mexicans almost had a few punch ups in the game. Great game though.

Messi will really have to do something special as he is a marked man by any team. Even though I am a German supporter I think that Argentina might just have an edge over the Germans.

Torres is an idiot. Villa is the one to watch. There are a few other Spainards to keep an eye out for. I don't think we have seen the best of Spain yet.

Rooney did a dive worthy of an Oscar last night to get a free kick which promptly hit the wall and resulted in England conceding another go on a German counter! That is what you get for diving! I think it was either Podolski or one of Muller's two goals which he JUMPED over the keeper instead of going down. If the Germans can do that then why can't the English and South Americans?

We'll have to see if I need to change any of my teams on my list. Like you said, by the weekend there will be a few more out. Add Chile to the list of WC expats.

Glad you agree that a tow rope will slow you down. Why only 130km? Let's just go out and see how far we can ride from 6 to 6. No reason at all for me to be home this weekend, other than to watch some soccer.

Kid, I don't like the taste of Kiwis. They are just too tough and Ausies are no better. Far prefer a good rump steak.

Andy, what do you mean almost had a punch up. At half time it was the best boxing match I've seen for a while. Yeah, Messi sure has a rep and that is why he's so marked. But that takes away players from the other Argentinian strikers. Look ho they scored almost at will against the Mexes.

As for Loony Roony and his diving antics, let's just say it was an impressive performance. He might not be able to score goals but there may be a bright future for him in Holywood.

I see there is loads of whinging from them about the disallowed goal. So what? the score was 4:1. Even if they got another it is still only 4:2, but then they whine and say the game would have been different.

Right???? Complete supposition and conjecture IMHO.

Brasil played a good game last night 3:0.

For someone who is not a soccer fan, I have enjoyed a fair number of gaes so far. I loved that Bafunny beat the Frogs. (Buncha cheating prima donna ballerinas.)

Like why are they calling all the soccer players "divers"? They are "diving divas".

Hummy, I had to break the news to you but your eyes are like Kid's. In my previous post I mentioned the Germany v Argentina game.

I am just hoping that Holland can work some magic against Brazil.

At least Rooney knows that after his soccer career is over he can go into acting. Will probably be better at it as well.

I heard on the radio this morning that Steven Gerrard can't wait to see his wife again and that Frank Lampard and John Terry also can't wait to see Steven's wife. ;-) It was hilarious. I will try find a link to it.

Holland and Germany are both very good strong teams this year. I know Portugal klapped the Koreans 7:0 but one rain don't make a summer baby.

So far, all the weaker teams have departed. If my team (Brasil) or my second team (argentina) don't make it to the final, I at least have the satisfaction of knowing that our boys smacked the cheating Frenchies and I have seen some very good games of soccer. Some of the dives have been spectacular and many soccer players may have a bright future in Holywood. Some of the dives have been rather pathetic and poor of quality. There has been controversy, brilliant goals scored and some good boxing. All in all, I'd say it's been a good SWC so far. I have never watched more soccer in my entire life. ;)

The buzz and the hype have been great and we look forward to spendng more time on the bike than the couch for the next four or so years while we wait for the next one to roll around.

Hummy (What made you think of Humming Bord as a login?) congrats on passing your learners. Just a quick reminder that Kid is your dad. If I recall correctly, parents were put n this earth to spoil their children's fun. (Not really.) We were kids too onceso anything you can think of trying, it's probably already been done by dad. We learned hard lessons because we didn't listen to our parents so I guess it's your turn now. ;)

Kid, you have my sympathies my man. I had to go through the ordeal of trying to teach my youngster to drive and it was scary. Good luck to ya. Even though he passed his drivers, I still won't be a passenger in his car. Way too scared for that.

Go BRasil and Argentina. Have to go to a meeting today. At Brichwood. So included in this deal is that I get to go to the soccer village and watch Japan take on whoever this sfternoon. Have a bit of grub, a drink or two and then head home to watch the Porras get a lesson in how to play soccer. Maybe they teach Spain a trick or two and make it for another round.

Is it either Spain or Portugal to face the German machine?

Slave, don't drink too much at the fan park otherwise you wont be able to ride back home.

Glad you've been watching all this soccer, the World Cup is great and having right here in SA is even better.

There's no need to wait 4 years to watch another great tournament, in two years time we'll have the Euro. Just remember Fifa needs lots of money so they make sure there are enough tournaments to fill their bank accounts.

Did you see that Brisilian dive yesterday ?

These guys could be swimmers at very short notice.

VIVA PORTUGAL !!!!

Slave, humming bird came from a strange habit i hav while swimming. When I'm looking for that extra oomph during a hard set i begin to hum as if its my motor revving to capacity! Strange yet true.

Hey Kid. What happened to your team?

I was a leedle tyred when I got home from Soccer village, so I had a tiny nap. The I watched about 20 minutes of the game until half time and it was boring. So I just went to bed to continue my nap.

Now I hear Spain are in the quarters.

Well well, the Portugese are the next ones to book their tickets home. Was a good game although it seemed like Christiano Ronaldo can also have a great Hollywood career once his football days are over.

Hummy, to learn to drive just watch DSTV. Then you can drive like in that advert.
