not any more dangerous than riding through the city centre 2x every day?

The Helivac and Think Bike guys initiated a project where they have bikes and vehicles riding with the Xumbug groups on weekends. This works well but I didnt see them around this weekend. Maybe no one informed them that the time changed back to 7:00 or they realized its not sustainable? Not sure really

Havent heard of any jackings recently but Im sure its still happening.....

The city centre is no problem. It's just the motorists that are sometimes problematic. Like the silly tart who almost took me down on Thursday morning.

Oh and the pedestrians that walk between the cars when they cross the road when the traffic isn't moving. And let's not forget the dumbass idjits who run accross the road trying to avoid the cars but haven't seen you so he stops running when the cars have gone by.

There's no danger in the city centre. All the manholes have missing lids making the potholed south look like a super highway. The pedestrians cross at all the correct places and never against the light. City centre is a ride in the city.

Now jackers on the other hand..... thems mean and nasty. Pulling pangas on you and junk like that.

Slave I haven't heard of any jacking recently either.

I think you have forgotten what kid looks like (remember he was a gym bunny before). Thieves see him and think twice about their actions, I think being hit by the passing train would be less painful.

If memory serves he is a 4 X 4. Four foot high and four foot wide. And not an ounce of body fat anywhwere. ;) Gym bunny turned bicycle bunny.

So I commuted again this morning. Nice and energetic 1 hr 25 ride but Butchers is still getting the better of me. The rest of the ride was uneventful and very enjoyable despite the wind. Looking forward to having that wind as a tail wind on the ride home. :)

Went up Butchers yesterday morning in 4th gear, quite an achievement for me and that after having klapped Comaro and Bellairs (helps to have lost 8+ kg's ;) )

You see SLAVE, you missing out dude.

Trubie & Big S are serious machines, up Comaro, Klipriver, Impala, Bellairs.

One day when I'm big I'll do all those in the same loop and on my big chain ring.

BTW, Slave how does it feel to ride with 'normal' chain rings ?

Or did you perform some surgery and add a few more teeth ???

Kid, what are normal chain rings? I thought they were all normal. If you're asking about the 53 / 39 jobs, can't say I have noticed a difference because there are ten gears to choose from at the back. Also, had a long break between riding my well known config and the new config, so I guess it was adapt ot die. :o

Given a choice, I would like to go back to my 53/ 42 config because it just worked for me, but I fear if I changed right now, I would sweat it badly because I'm kinda used to the 39.

I would not be able to keep up with the slow bunch up the stpe right now though. I'd drop out the back and be fair game for those nasty dudes with the pangas that take away bicycles that don't belong to them. :(

Surgery is easily performed because I have a spare 42 chain ring in my toys. I just promissed someone I woul dnot make any config changes to his bike.

Only way to find out how good or bad they are is for me to join you guys on Saturday. :P

Slave join me on Saturday as I'll be doing the short loop with the slow group.

BTW some chain rings are oval. There's a bike in the For Sale section that has things chain rings on.
