Possibly a bit true Agetros. :)

How was the ride?

So I get to Nancy's house about 20 minutes early. We get going and park at that shopping centre. Get the bikes ready and as we leaving the shopping centre there is this loud clunk sound. I think that it was just my chain which has dropped into the correct gear after shifting during transport. Then suddenly my back wheel feels funny. I stop and look and it is a broken spoke. We assess the situation for a bit and I see if I can remove the spoke and continue the ride. But it didn't look possible. So I tell Nancy that I can't ride but she must go ahead and ride. I go back to the car and off Nancy goes. Just after I leave the shopping centre Nancy phones and says the group had already left even though she got there dead on time. So we decide to just go back to the shopping centre for breakfast at Mugg & Bean. We did note that that whenever there is a "wheel" problem the common denominator seems to be Kid and Trubie. I am investigating whether one of them didn't sabotage my wheel! ;) It was really frustrating! I do the Amashova Up Ride, Amashova race and two hard interval sessions with no problems. Then rolling out the parking area it breaks. ARGH!!!!!! :cursing: :nuke: :cursing:

Hi

sorry andy. i also had a messed up morning. My dad and his friend got to my flat and we left with very little time to spare. my dads friend punctured on the swartkoppie road. so when we did get to the meeting place there was nobody there. We just did our own little ride but when we got back to my flat i fell over when i rode up onto the driveway and now my wrist is very sore :(

I wont ride tomorow morning with it so sore so i will just have to wait until next week to ride with everyone. and andy can get his wheel fixed in time too! I did have a nice ride though!

I am going to the sbr this afternoon for a drive with some friends and to see if it as tuff as you all say! and i am counting the hills! :P

Thanks. Hope your wrist heals soon!

Yes, this after having no power yesterday evening.

I handed my wheel in and they sending it to Cape Town to sort out as in Cape Town they have a special spoke tensioning device/machine. Should get it back by Friday so next weekend I can ride (thinking the "short loop" followed by SBR).

Enjoy SBR! It is hilly but not too bad on the bike. Once you found a nice rhythm it is easy. Btw-in actual fact there are about 6 climbs. I only count the ones over 6% as climbs. :D

6 climbs? whatever dude! i bet you have a hard time keeping track of how many drinks you have at the bar too? :P

i count a lot more than 6 climb! i wont be riding there ever! :o

but it is a nice place, if i was a better rider i think i might attemtp riding there :blink:

and ley me just say that we saw a small group of riders in the sbr and they looked like they were really struggling! it would take me the whole day to ride through there! :cursing:

How long does it take for you guys to ride through there? there is a nice down-hill there but you have to climb just to get to it! :thumbdown:

Hehehe. There are quite a few inclines, more than six, yes. But then you wouldn't be able to count them. So I count the main ones which are about 6. (Kid only counts the very main ones so he gets 2)

For me, about 2 hours. Best so far was 2 hours exactly.

Oh, and I can keep a very good track of the number of drinks I consume. ;)

@Andy

Buy decent wheels & learn how to use them properly

@PricessHannah

Don't fill your water bottle with booze, it's a water bottle not a booze bottle.

Pity you guys missed the groups.

@Predictor

The groups leave at 7am sharp.

I would strongly suggest you build in some spare time.

Another 100km in legs for me :D :D

:o Nance was here and I wasn't :( :thumbdown:

I'll try and find out, maybe I can "export" her next weekend? Wonder if she wants to take the MTB rather than the road bike....?

SBR is excellent training if you a mountain goat

necessary to ride every now and then, but still a huge evil.

I have only managed 2:13 mins. Very specific power training session. Some lunatics do like it very much - SHAME!!

Sorry I never saw any of you on saturday , sunday managed to pass the corner just before 7, so brief stop to say hi and I was on my horse and gone again. Dont like the group riding - slows me down :)

Easy week coming up, OFM next weekend!!

Oh, and big thanks to scooterboy for the marshalling on saturday. Great job, you make me feel quite safe out there. Couldnt get to greet you, but I was one of 2 okes in Cyclelab kit towards the front part of the bunch on the Nampak Loop.

Are you sure that it was only 2???

Maybe you don't count to well ??

1 Tequila; 2 Tequila; 3 Tequila; FLOOR - and you ended up on the floor :blink: :blink: :blink:

Ok heal up & we'll see you next weekend :thumbup: :thumbup:

BTW probably a good idea to stay away from Tequila :D :D

@Predictor

Nice to see you again & thanks for the ride.

Had to slow down at the end to wait for Mini Mini Me, maybe that break away he did was a bit too much but the bunch never caught us.

@Slave

You seem to be in good form. You went so fast that you overtook the group and ended up with the faster group. Maybe you should get yourself a 94.7 entry - wait you have one don't you ??

I hope you made Hummy work ?

@SignUp (Shawn)

Nice to meet you.

Thanks for giving up your Sunday morning to look after us.

Keep up the good EXCELLENT work, we appreciate it!!!! :thumbup: :clap: :thumbup: :clap: :thumbup: :clap:

Well technically Nance wasn't there because she was having breakfast with me at Mugg & Bean.

Marius, SBR is great! Even a slower one!

Kid, ever occurto you that I ride in the north with no problems, including a hard interval session the day before, and then when I go ride in the south my wheel suddenly and inexplicably fails? Even after the 200km plus and roughly 3000m of climbing with the Amashova I had no problems. I know you don't like Eastons, but that is no reason to sabotage mine!

PrincessHannah, I believe you when you say you only had two tequilas. That is perfectly reasonable and extremely plausible. But what else did you have? :huh: :P
