Hannah, Gators are pretty good tyres. They are pretty bullet proof unless you happen to be the Kid or Wonder Woman. I have seen them both shread a gator. Kid did his in when he broke his chain in SBR last year on on eof our rides and Wonder Woman got so much power into the back wheel going up the Lido hill last year that we had to use money to line the tyre enough for her to get home. I stopped to help her fix the puncture and that was when I learned that money can be used for more than just buying recovery coffee at the circus. Apparently though, the note was like totally wrecked afterwards and competely unrecognisable. :(

The only issue I had with mine was a balance issue. The tyres caused a steering vibration /wobble but it may just have been one tyre.

I have done several hundred KM (probably around 15 to 20 (hundreds) on the set currently on the bike and so far, they have been great. I have no complaints about these gators.

Trubie   My life saver once again. I will come by later since I need to be back on the bike again tomorrow (and for the rest of the week / month)

ha ha!

I am from the north! my parents live in rivonia and i moved here to the south to be closer to work!

oohh what are the reasons? I like a good skinner! ;)

I had them in my boot on Saturday but of course I couldn't hand them over because of the act of sabotage. :(

As wicked as the Kid may be, I somehow doubt he was behind my wheel troubles. I know he's like small, but not that small that he can sneak up on me unseen and create the kind of destruction he is often accused of. A henchman of note maybe, but a destructive child.... I am not convinced. You will have to provide more facts councilor. The jury is not entirely convinced of your case. ;) We don't use juries here and anyway, juries are a waste of time. Kid might not commit all the acts himself but he masterminds them.

And it wasn't even in the south that the problems occured. It was north of JHB central. :P So technically, it happened in the north. I have had no problems in the North. I did a hard interval session the day before. Much more stress on the bike. Then rolling slowly out the parking area of Panorama Shopping Centre (I believe that is the name) it happens. Unless they moved either Panorama Shopping Centre or JHB Central sometime on Friday night, Panorama is south of JHB Central. Also Trubie's tyre problems were south of JHB Central. It seems like when Northerners venture south they have wheel problems and when Southerners venture north they fall off.

Oxman. Last year I went through a stage of doing just over 2000 km (Yes, two thousand) without one single puncture. And they were mostly in the south if not all of them. (The Km that is).

But I kind of agree with you. Running shooz are expensive. You wouldn't want to risk a blowout on them. :P

I suppose if one compares the price of running shooz to bike tyres, the tyres are relatively cheap. Running shooz (a good pair) gor for like a grand IMS. And you can do like a max of 1500 km before they are poked.

A set of bike tyres are about the same and you can maybe get 5000 on the before they are poked.

Still can't get my head into the comparison with car tyres though.Bike tyres cost more than my car tyres and my car tyres do like 70 or 80 thousand.

Methinks someone is making some very serious money on bike tyres and running shooz.

There is nothing wrong with Gators, technically. Slave had the stability problem in the past and to me they felt like I was dragging a freight train behind me. It is personal preference and what works for you. Just like I don't like the little lever out the side of Campag although there is not much wrong with Campag.

It is just fun stirring a bit with Kid and Trubie about Campag and Gators.
