Ya, Slave and they forgot that they were supposed to go with me (who had to stay within strict HR guides)....

Guess it is true that the moment when there is more than one bicycle in a group, you have a cycle race! Amazing how runners can run together (slowly, or fast) depending on the goal for the run. Hehehe and they can also let those who want to 'race' go, and carry on with their own training goal (pretty much like what we did ;) !)

I was on the front, then I think BigS or Hummy went to the front. After that Slave came through then there was a bit more rotation. I went to the back and thought that you two just weren't pacing anymore and you were happy to sit at the back. Then I look back to see and you not there. Couldn't see you at all. So I thought I would just stay with the other three. We did get a nice bit of working going though and kept the speed about 36/37. Then Hummy starts sprinting just before the bridge. Thank goodness for that rest stop at the bridge!

Since the commutes are slow and base training you can then do some speed work on the weekends. :D You don't need to be fresh at the end of the ride. Hehehe.

Really??? What about keeping some legs for the coming week when I need to commute again? I battled yesterday AM. Going home was very different and the morning ride was only 16 km so just under half of the distance to work. (Different morning and afternoon routes)

I just want to make sure as I am planning my weekend training - Panorama is just a bit up that road from Xumbugs intersection? If we went straight over at the end instead of turning right to Rietvlei we would get to Panorama?

Yes. But if we leave from Broken City, we can go up Hennie Alberts, down Michelle and up and over Bellairs. Not as hectic as Camaro, but then there is Sneeuberg (a short little mother guaranteed to satisfy any simian tendencies)an few ups and downsalong Vorster and then a nice little climb up Amanda. Then we can hotfoot it down butchers and get to Xumbugs before the groups leave. We can try the fast bunch and when I drop out, I will find someone else to hook up with. Otherwise you can park at Panorama and then ride to Braken City and I will meet you there, say around 05h15. (We need to give ourselves time to do our own lap and make it to the bunch.) Trubie and Saul should have an idea if this will be enough time. Unless of course you want to do Camaro.

Ox, I can relate to this because I often go out with the idea of having a slow bunch ride. Then I get to Humbugs, change my mind and decide to ride with the fast bunch (this was last year)and then no sooner do you get under way and the adreniline kicks in. or was that the testosterone. No matter, it's whatever the "stoopid hormone" is that makes men forget all logic and reason and just go all out and compete.

I think there was a touch of testosterone overflow on Sunday. They forgot that it was supposed to be two slow laps. :(

On the upside, I had a nice enough ride yesterday morning and somehow survived. Then came the ride home. Must have been some spanish beef in that water bottle of mine (and I swear I only put energade into it.) Anyway, some halfway up fourth street Houghton, I was cruizing nice and comfortably and decided to rather take Joe Slovo as opposed to Munroe. (I needed to find out what distance I used to commute when I lived at another place as well.) Anyway, the pace felt right and comfotable except for one or two places where the HR went into space so I just kept going.

What used to take me an hour 15 took an hour 5 yesterday. I was pretty knackered by the time I got home, but it was a really good ride.

This morning, I became a true roadie and opted for the car because I didn't feel like getting wet. :P

Good commute then Slave!

So you had a rest day today. So Sunday you will be ready again for some more? :D

Sounds like a plan. How far is Broken City from Panorama?

Lap 2 might be a slower one for me as I can't do a repeat of this last Sunday if the Princess graces us with her presence.

Yip Andy, good commute. I really enjoyed it in the end. It used to take me around 8 minutes to climb Michelle. Yesterday took a shade over 5.

I just felt like I was inthe groove,so I just tried to keep it there. Doesn't necessarily men that I will be in that sort of shape on Sunday though. You may find it a rather frustrating slow ride for someone with your ability. ;)

I'd say between 6 and 8 km.

I think the Princess has been scared right off the planet dude. So scared in fact that she's not even posting. :P

Yeah, I will be happy enough to do our little extra warmup loop and then run with the old slow dogs around the short loop as a bit of a recovery.

One chap that surprised me on Sunday was a rider in Liberty colours. He was always riding with the slow bunch and was one of those who would never keep up when I got the hammer down to split the bunch.

I see he was right up there with us on Sunday for much of our loop. (2nd lap). He seriously kicked my butt. Just a litte something I will have to rectify in the near future. I got to get faster than him again. (Ahh cr@p, it's that "stoopid hormone" kicking in again.)

Slave, just find that groove again. You seem to be getting back into the cycling again. So keep it up. Soon you will be racing again.

Well I hope not as I still need some wheels!

8km isn't that far.

I have only these last words on dis 2 laps slow ting y'll gaaning aan about ....

I was under instruction to ensure a certain level of energy was expended on lap 1, I have been informed that I managed that. You do not mess with the Queen of Bree

I haven't been out of it Andy. Just been doing it differently. Commuting is way different than race training. It's also very difficult to keep 300 km a week going. I need huge food intake for that. I have lost an enormous amount of weight because I can't eat enough to replace the energy I use. Sooner or later the body breaks down. So extra rides on the weekends have been very difficult.

Panorama to Bracken City is 7 k's

If you wanna start at that time you coudlk rather do the south loop and be back at Xumbugs by 6:45/50/55 if you start at 5 from Bracken City

Revenge can often be a thing of absolute beauty.

Andy, this is what the "stoopid hormone" does. I makes you listen to women. :P It is also responsible for many other things. Just ask the dumb@sses at First for Women insurance. They think women are smarter. But that's another story.

Slave we (read as Trubie & I) do about 300km a week and it's a fast 300km (for me at least).

I think Trubie does more than 300km & he still claims that he's round.

From what Big S says he also does about 300km a week.

Granted Andy only does about 30km a week but we all know that he doesn't need to train.

I don't think the problem is the mileage, I think the problem is those things that you suck on

I do just under 300k's a week but only 120 of those are road ...... anything between 12 and 15 hours a week - nuts I know :(

Slave, I must say that I agree with Kid (no wonder it is raining, Kid and I agree on two things in the space of two weeks)!

So you want revenge on Queen Bree now? Have you thought that through?

Frikking h3ll. It's going to snow. Maybe for you guys, 300 km a week is ok. Without the added energy usage of cycling, I have an above normal appetite and have always needed a huge amount of food to keep me going. Cycling just makes me eat that much more and the budget is restricted at present. Thus I have opted to stay away from bunch rides for a while, but like I said, it has been re-discovered. Maybe I should get a skateboard for commuting so I can save some energy for the weekends.

Remember, it is not always possible for everyone to be able to do the same things. When I was a runner, I could not run more than 32 km. I hot that wall so hard at that distance it was scary. I did several marathons(42.2 is standard marathon distance) and always ended up walking the last 10 km. No matter how much I trained and no matter how fit I was. I could never manage to run more than about 50 or 60 k's a week. Every time I tried, I got sick and it took at least two weeks to recover. I also was unable to run every day. I had to have rest days so ran Mod, Wed and Friday. Whenever there was a race on Sunday, Monday was always just a hort run and it would be 5 km of absolute hell. Wed would be semi Ok, and Friday was always an easier session if there was racing on Sunday.

Clearly not, but revenge comes in many guises. ;) There is more than one way to skin a queen. Or so I'm told. :P

It seems Hannah has taken flight. (or should that be fright and flight.) Not a word from her in two days. Shucks Andy. you really did put your foot in it this time dude. Apparently one covered in smelly dog turd. :P

(Come back primcess, all is forgiven. The old fogeys will protect you from the bad man Andy. He really is a pussycat once you get to know him. He can just be a bit obtuse sometimes and is known to suffer hoof in mouth diease just like me.

Apparently, I have such a bad case of it that I just open my mouth to change feet these days.) :(

Ok' chaps, once agin, it's been fun and non productive. I gotta get through heaps of work.

LATER.
