Give Nance a hug from me next time you see her please Andy :)

Certainly, I will give her an extra hug specially from BigS! ;)

Agteros, sorry to hear! Hope the results show that the Fe is normal!

Slave, you drinking the wrong stuff there my friend! Finish your bottle and get some Glenfiddich! ;) Dad and I have a Glenfiddich every couple of weeks as a sundowner. Beside, anything under Blue tastes terrible! ;)

Posted

Glenfidich is good stuff too. :)

Shivas tastes like Blue. :(

Besides who can afford to get mindless on a bottle of Blue? Or Glenfidich for that matter.

I am quite happy with my Crawfords thanks. It's not bad at all as an ordinary every day plonk. :P

Posted

True that! Blue goes for about USD160 a bottle! OUCH!

That is why you don't drink Glenfiddich every day but every so often.

If I drank everyday I would end up with double the distance I ride so no thank you. At least now I know why you were talking of 100km on Sunday! :P

No dude, I was seriously planning on doing 100 km.

In point of fact, it was fortuitous that we didn't hook up on Sunday since I struggled to make 40. Even had to stop half-way up Camaro for a rest. I was just tolly knackered.

I know. I was just joking with you! So you only really did 20?

You weren't the only one who was totally knackered. Hummy and I really pushed in the Time Trial because we were also taking a bit of strain. Kid only went at 80% in the last 10 minutes. The first 10 minutes he went at 40%. So he was fresh and chirping like a bird!

Posted

No, the kid chirps like a bird all the time. No matter how tired he is.

Now you have me all confused about how far I rode. I'm really not sure anymore especially since it happened more than ten minutes ago.

And while on the subject ot the TT, No matter how few meters Trubie beat you by, he still beat you. How can you let an old fart like that beat you????

I think there were a few places where I was possibly in too hard a gear and a 12 or 13 may have been a bit better than my 11. So I lost a few metres. But that is also why I probably put about a kilometre into Kid and caught him so quickly. He still refuses to recognise the benefit of an 11.

So what are the riding (and running ;) ) plans for the weekend?

Saturday = 15km run (I hope)

Sundayy = 200km Ian Kernick Memorial road ride - start at 5am, should take no more than 8 hours, lunch at the circus included :)

Wish I already had my Christmas present. The running watch battery does not last long enough to record it all via GPS, So I'll have to rely on only the bike sensor :(

Sounds good Agteros!

You seem to know what your Christmas present is so what is it?

Doesn't your average speed have to remain under a certain value for that ride?

I was kinda sold on the Raleigh road bike, but the carbon seat stays are not giving me a warm fuzzy feeling. The bike will spend a lot of time on the IDT, and with the rocking motion, which the frame will have to absorb, it will obviously put extra strain on any joint, especially where different materials are joined, obviously not bonded, but glued.

So I decided to rather get myself a Garmin Edge 800 from CRC, as they will only be available in SA during the second quarter 2011 (according to Linden Cycles)... Already have a fair idea of my birthday present as well ;)

Average speed on these long (Audax) rides must not exceed 30km/h between checkpoints. Checkpoints are at 95(Nigel), 150(Circus) & 200 (Finish, Marks Park). Checkpoints open at 8:00, 9:50 and 11:40. So, not a real "limit" really as it is a LSD ride afterall :)

I have nothing against the Kid at all. But if you remember correctly Kid has told us numerous times that he doesn't like/want/need etc an 11.

Sounds good! I am still deciding what to do on Sunday.

That Edge 800 looks great! Is it available on CRC at the moment?

I also have a fair idea of my Christmas present, or at least what is on my Christmas list! :P

So if this is a ride for the slowest time, I could win it by going all out at my max speed? :P 200 km is a lot of LSD.

I hear what you are saying Oxman, but have you considered that carbon forks have been around a fairly long time? There are different materials used in the forks and the steerer. And that too would be subjected to vibration and other forces while cornering.

If you get another bike for time trials would it not be silly to put it on an indoor trainer? You could use the Scott for that. Only thing is you then have to change the groupset on the scott so you can get used to the gearing. That would save your TT bike.

Also that the TT bike would be subjected to a similar range of motion while riding. In addition, it would also suffer the road vibrations.

Andy, I haven't any ideas of what I'd like to do on the bike this weekend. Really have no clue whatsoever. To be honest, my mind is elsewhere right now.

The Raleigh has an Alu frame, with the seat stays (rear wheel, not fork) being carbon. Obviously glued to the alu...
