Dude, whenever you're ready. I just need about a month or so to psyche myself up. Or a truck to chase.

I just got back from what has been my most awesome ride this year. just shy of 60 and without doubt, one of the hardest rides all year. I decided to run with the big dogs. Up the steps I even chased a truck for about 20 seconds or so before I bonked. :(

What a magical ride. I feel better than James Brown. :)

What exactly were you planing on doing with the truck if you had caught it ?

See how easily you stuck with the racing snakes, you even overtook everybody up the steps.

The KING OF THE STEPS is back

I haven't caught one yet, so I'm not sure what to do with it. Suppose I'll do like the dogs and piddle on the wheel.

King of the steps, yeah right. That was why I bonked on the steps. It's now time for my recovery nap. Later all. Andy, lemme know when you want to do TDS. I am happy to oblige.

Tomorrow is dependant on many things. I may be too tired to ride. Get your frikking minds out of the gutters you dirty little baskets. My legs are hurting. And the 'nads. Foot slipped off the pedal just as I was starting my ride.

So the question is: Was the ride a balls to the wall affair, or was it more the soft and the hard connecting in a very painful manner. :(

Have a great arvie all. I promise not to think about y'all for the rest of the day. Will probably take a nice slow recovery ride tomorrow.

That is, until tomorrow comes and I remember how much fun today was. Running with the big dogs was cool.

And the blue child has become quite the racing snake. Even the 1/4 pint is quite the speed demon. Won't even mention half-pint. ;)

Later all. Nap time after some chocolate milk.

you see Slave, its always easier than what one wants to make yourself believe.

just do it brother, just do it

nice ride this am, cheesefac, followed by Nampak(where I need to add, I even had Slave as a partner upfront).

Great to still see quite a number of riders out there. Many thanks to the bike marshalls too. Great job as always.

Slave - that truck chase just shows what the benefits are of all of them base miles this year. So DC would be a walk in the park.

Good to see there's still plenty peeps out riding......... was a perfect day today. Hardly any wind, coolish weather and some great co on the ride.

Trubie, why were you riding and taking pics?

Great to see some of ASGR at Rietvlei. BigS was looking strong!

Nance and I have decided to do the 24 hour solo next year. So ASGR will have minimum of three riders in the 24 hour. Trubie, you going to be the fourth solo rider from ASGR? Kid has kindly volunteered to be the manager. Now I just need to find a soigneur. :P

Hey Andy. Got an SMS from you and then tried to contact you later to see if you were still at Rietvlei. Apparently not given the time of your post. ANyway, i duly put in an appearance to look for you. Only got home at like 3 am. :(

No ride today, I am feeling alittle tired.

Big difference between chasing a truck for 50 or 100 meters and doing 203km though. And the pace along the Allewynspoor t road was nice and civilised. (Until I got up front with you for about ten seconds. The pace dropped dramatically, and I had to drop back into the pack.)

Nothing special about my performace, but great fun.

Yeah, we stayed until just after dark. Saw your missed calls but I was in the Land of Dreams by that time. Had to leave home at 5am to get to the meeting point with Nance around 5:30. Did a nice 57km/3:45ish MTB ride in Uncle Albert's Farm, Emmarentia technical and the Spruit.

So how was your date Slave? When is the second date? :D

I'm not sure if it was the right kind of CTION though, hanging out at the 24 hour MTB race! Unless of course his date was a cyclist.

Slave, you have told her that you have to train for DC2011 so it is early to bed on Friday and Saturday nights?

That is it! Slave's date has to be Mona!

Hey Kid, thanks so much for coming to give some support with Andy and Nance. It was highly appreciated

Ended up with 22 laps, about 260 k's I guess, 2nd in Vet Men behind the Legendary Tinker Juarez! Just a 'little' broken today .... was it worth it? HELL YEAH!

Andy, Nance this is a commitment I will NOT allow to slip :)

Ended up being today (or more specifically, this afternoon.)

Sure was. We met at 8, had a couple of drinks. Me Vit S, her Vit W (Wine), chatted until about 10 when I managed to convince her that Rietvlei was the happening place. Got there about 10:30 and no Andy, no ox, could find anyone,so we adjourned to O' Hagans and had a couple more drinks until they chased us out at 01h15, took home, dropped her off and headed for home. Got back just after 3 am and hit the sack. Woke up at six and could not face the possibility of a ride so went back to sleep until 6h45.

Very eventful date.

This afternoon consisted of watching a DVD and battling to keep my eyes open. Left around 7 and got home about an hour ago. Food, cold (coke) drink and ready for bed. Us old farts need loads of beaty sleep.

Catchya allin the AM. Hope you all had lekker rides today in that wind. It sucked. (Actually that's just a figure of speech. It BLEW).

Dude, just a couple of things.....

I went to be very early (On Sunday). And what the frikadell did I do to have to date Mona????

Yep, she knows about DC 2011. And no, she is not a cyclist (Yet), just works out on the treadmill and stationary bike in the gym. Part of the phsycology of lasts nights recce to Rietvlei was to convince her of how cool cycling really is although that was a very hard core introduction to some pretty whacky cyclists. Fortunately, she didn't get to meet Big S. That might have put her off cycling before she even began. ;) :P
