I am also gonna list my bike to sell as i am gonna upgrade to a slinky italian bike! My new years resolution is to cycle more!

I have a nice bonus (don't get ideas Kid, I am not buying you anything!), a certificate and the speech from my boss at our awards ceremony. As the boss said, "Whatever we ask Andy to do, Andy does." So I have recognition at work to show for it.

There are rumblings here in the office that I may be sent to Gauteng (Germiston) for a few months next year.

To make this manageable, I will have to take my bike.

 

What is the week day (morning) riding scene like in that area ?

Are there groups I could join?

I dont know the area at all...

Splat, welcome to this thread.

 

Germiston is not all that close to Ablerton. I do know that Trubie meets with a gang of supersonic cyclists that meet at Meyersdal just about every morning and leave there by 5 am.

 

Some of the Germiston Wheelers often ride our loops and routes on weekends and some of them may even follow this thread. Maybe they will respond to your query.

So Slave, how was your ride yesterday? Did you get wet at all?

 

No Andy, I managed to stay bone dry. The ride was good thanks. I rode a bar stool all afternoon. Had a whole 4 beers with my boet and was Douglas Bader for a while. It seems that domestic strife is contagious and he seems to have caught the virus now. So he was buying and I was listening.

 

I did have a very decent ride into the office this morning though. New record time. And the funny thing was I didn't feel like I pushed it until the eyes popped. There was very little traffic which was an absolute pleasure.

 

And before riding the bar stool, I took a long drive with a charming lady. All the way to the Vaal dam and back.

 

How was all that rain though, Sheeesh, it was something. Perhaps symbolic of my past now washed away and the sun shining with new brightness today.

 

Life is good again.

Its easily manageable with a bike.
