I missed what was said on FB so I will reserve comment and judgement. But toanswer your question, Trubue has been riding for a very long time. Next to Big S and I, Trubie is the next oldest person I know.

slave do you have a car?

yes.

or do you commute because you want to save the planet?!

Well, yes and no. I commute because I keep fit that way, get my daily training in while making the planet greener and it takes e less time to ride than to drive.

But I also commute for a number of of other reasons. One of which is to cut down on expenses. Commuting saves me about R70 a day parking and about the same amount in petrol.

I will just have to aim better then. post-4220-0-03074400-1296886342.gif

Still can't find any good reason to have one around. (After 48 hours of deep thought.) Companionship is also not a good enough reason, becase my cycling buds are good companions and they don't give me grief or make life "interesting". (Well, Trubie does but that's because he's big and he can. And Big S does because he's like really old and I have respect for my elders and let him get away with it.

Kid thinks he can get away with it and often does because it is illegal to beat children these days.) :P

PH - they dont know how much they actually motivated me :)

You see its complicated. I have been riding since a long time ago, but the 17 yr break doesn't count, so its been a short time actually.

I was an athlete till a MVA in 1988 put paid to a promising running career. I then got a bike and started doing some riding and duathlons (run and bike). I did this for 3 years until I finished my national service  , and then when I entered the working fray, I stopped doing anything. BIG MISTAKE I KNOW!! :(

Got back on a bike (hybrid) in 07 just before 94.7, 08 I stuffed around a bit, but this is year 3 of serious training, 09, 10 and 11 will be the base years - thereafter no more excuses.

BTW - had a lekka ride this morn with Doc Spaso and some of the Bernardino clan. 2:08mins.. tmrw Emperors, and then an easy week

Well trubie just know that i think you are a really nice, and humble guy and that is what makes a man. good luck for tomorrow, although i know regardless of your result you will be gracious.

Slave, i am very impressed and wish there were more people prepared to commute. just be safe.

But slave as good as your mates are, i dont think trubie or kid or bigS would like you cuddling up to them! Thats where us ladies hold one over on your buds! :P (unless of course you like that?! kidding!) :D

I did not ride this morning but am going for a mtb ride with my dad and my boyfriend tomorrow morning. any tips on how to ride them off my wheel? ;)

enjoy your race tomorrow, and i wish to say to andy, kid, hummingbird, agteros, trubie and all you guys to just be safe and good luck.

Just there I draw the line, help with a puncture, some 'friendly' banter but no 'touching' never mind cuddling  - now of course I don't speak for Trubie or Kid  they may well oblige him ;)

Breedsnek Ox if we get permission from Nance

THAT sounds very tempting. Wonder what the roadies will offer to better that?

Posted

nxt sat will def be easy ride for the roadies. 1:45-2:00 MAX

Sunday is ride 4 Sight - 116k's with some mean climbs thrown in, so the poofter roadies will be taking it easy.

Ok, correction - I know I will - can't speak for the rest.

They might be doing a nice 4hr ride or something

Emperors 1, me 0

Should have known this morning its gonna be one of those days when I managed to first of all push a safety pin on my number (that had opened) through a knuckle on my right hand when putting stuff in my back pocket, then my Polar HR monitor didnt show any HR, but it works each time when playing squash with it.

Last week my Ibike unit packed up and the replacement hadn't arrived at the post office by yesterday. So I had to revert to the Polar which didnt show anything but time today.

Anyway I gave it my all for 60mins and then blew big time. Have to admit defeat!

Well done to the rest of the team for whatever they achieved.

My time was somewhere in the region of 2:42... even slower than last week and this race was supposed to be 7 k's shorter than last week. so EPIC FAIL.

See Slave - what I said about A bunch is 100% true. I got caught with about 200m's to go by the B bunch . :(
