So Oxman, take the bricks out of the bag, learn to swim. Your running is coming along very nicley. Cycling seems to be going backwards (or is it just the equipment?)

Althoug the training has focused AWAY from cycling my cycling ain't going backwards at all... I've just been focussing more on the running as I wanted to do a sub 1:45 1/2 marathon .

On that recent mini duathlon, my cycling was still my best discipline, and that by quite some margin!

They now have Dua's in the "delivery" category? Or is the backwards equipent only for 94.7?

I think it would cause a major stir if you one day used the Humber as your bike for a dua.

I double dare you. ;)

Why is it so quiet on here?

Slave , what is this riding 138km on a weekday??????? Were you intoxicated, were you on a bike?

Thanks Andy - that 2:50 is a Champion time bru

Thanks Trubie. Much appreciated!

SO ..... rumour has it there has been a bit of a shake up on the 'ub

ABOUT FRIKKIN TIME!

So what's up y'all?

Jip, I had to step in, but it was worth it hey!

If I told you what's up, I'd be banned from the hub by admin and the mods :(

Seems like the shake up has been that this is turning into a RUNNING forum.

What's with that ugly avatar ?

All i'm going to say is that while you away I'm going to fetch my CAP !!!!!

Kid it is a nice avatar! You got my number so if your "fetching" goes wrong then give me a call. ;)

<P>sounds like was a good long ride S2L!! let me know nexttime you gonna do a nice long one! working this weekend<img src="https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley6.gif" height="17" width="17" border="0" align="absmiddle" alt="Unhappy" /> but always keen if i'm free.</P>

<DIV>i hit the sugar bush on sat morning with Muxman and a few other guys. got to the gate at about 6:50am, and there was already a que, mostly cyclists and a few bird watchers..</DIV>

<DIV>well, i have never done hills like that before!! you either going up or down and the flat sections are short, just a tease that you gonna have enough break to recover fully<img src="https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley1.gif" height="17" width="17" border="0" align="absmiddle" alt="Smile" />!! did ok for my first time there i think and climbed ok, but had to walk on the one hill(the last hard hill at the end of the ride, 7km of increasing incline, its a beast!!), legs were burning and just couldnt getb the crank over!!</DIV>

<DIV>can understand how riding there will make your legs so strong and make small hills seems like bumps!!<img src="https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley1.gif" height="17" width="17" border="0" align="absmiddle" alt="Smile" /></DIV>

<DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>then went for the group ride on sunday to do the loop and steps, as tried to do Mux suggested and just take it easy and stay in the pack... so much for that.... was with the pack to start and a group of 5 lifestyle performance club members came flying past the group. i was bunched in the midlle and had to try get out to try and chase those guys down, so eventually had a clearing when they were about 500m ahead of the pack and went balls tio the wall to catch them... eventually caught up, and was feeling the pain after the sugar bush ride!!! but managed to stay with them for the rest and up the steps no problem! so at least the fitness is getting there now...</DIV>

<DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>so think i'm gonna stic to try doing hill climbing on sat, or a nice long ride, and then with the group on sundays...</DIV>

<DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>scared that i'm getting hooked on this cycling thing a bit too much<img src="https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley14.gif" height="17" width="17" border="0" align="absmiddle" alt="Approve" /></DIV>

You should be able to.

They normally have a desk there with all the paper work.

Becareful of the roads, have heard they are in pretty bad shape.

It depends on the race. Most races you can get a late entry at an additional fee at number collection. Not sure about the Springbok race though. You should contact Cycle Events (number on Cyclelab website) or the organisers.

<br />Mois? Give you ideas? Forsooth. I would NEVER do THAT. <img src='https://cdn.bikehub.co.za/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />  <img src='https://cdn.bikehub.co.za/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <br /><br />But a dare is a dare.  <img src='https://cdn.bikehub.co.za/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /><br />
<br /><br /><br />

There wsa no dare anywhere. But welcome to dare me, however there must be a counter for you then as well....

Something like I'll do it, and then you go do something else .....

Or even better, I'll do it once you've done .......

I'm sure we can arrange the 'something' here on this thread for you :D

Er, I think I have quite enough on my plate for now. DC and half iron man.

Started doing long walks on Fridays as a prelude to beginning the running thing for 1/2 IM. Not sure how I'm going to manage to run if the hips hurt that much walking. Eish, and this plate in the shoulder is annoying me. Not doing any swimming until I can figure out what to do about it.

I might have dared you to join me for 1/2 IM, but that would give the kid all sorts of ideas. I think it would create quite the stir if you took the humble Humber for a trundle on a duathlon. You would most certainly gain some TV coverage.

Enough with all the silly stuff!

Are we meeting coming Saturday to start DC plans?

Date: 26 March (got that)

Time: ???

Venue:???

Any bike ride planned around the meeting? I need to do about 4 to 5 hours on a flat to undulating route. I need to do about 4 longish hills as well (8 to 10 minutes each). To all the mountain goats, please note hills, not walls!

Details will be on Cycle Nuts soon.
