Ai ai ai - lucky I'll be away, about time we showed you the 'real' southern suburbs 'walls' ;)

8 minutes Ben, 8 minutes. Not 1 minute flea jumps up walls. I know of two that should fit the bill, the one being more towards the long side and the other more towards the steep side

Good Morning all

Just a reminder that we are planning on having a get together this Saturday 26th from Rietvlei, which will be preceded by a road ride (leaving Rietvlei at 7:00) of approx 65-75 k’s depending on the mood.

If there is someone not on this list , pse invite by sending it on.

Others that want to join for the ride also more than welcome.

To help our mate Andy with his Tour de France dreams, we will be doing a pre get together ride from Steers in Meyersdal at 5:00, duration approx 2 hrs. So far its Saul, Andy and myself that have committed for this one.

If you not going to make it, let me know via this mail or sms me on 082 556 8807 OR 072 587 1818

Bennie – enjoy your trip and best for the Epic , we are sure you will miss us!

Cheers

Ox please just take it easy, only you & Trubie are runners the rest of us are part time fun cyclists ( I'm speaking for myself as others will be racing in France soon & might take offence)

It is a training ride, I promise to take it easy (I'll hide away at the back!)

I am also a part-time fun racing cyclist (even if I will be racing in France in a few weeks). ;)

Btw, if you want walls then you can do Rudd or Rockcliff. ;)

Young man, I have learned in life that sometimes, one should be careful what one wishes for. It may just come true. :o

Let's rather not stir up a hornets nest and just keep it down to a nice quiet whisper.

There are enough fires requiring attention elsewhere today.

Great first DC Team training ride this morning attended by:

Agteros, Andyr249 IanJ and son, Kid (aka Pint) and son (AKA half pint or Hummingbird.)Spas09, Trubie, and yours truly.

The real racng snakes went and did a long 50 odd loop before the official training ride got under way. I cheated and decided to only do the second loop which involved meeting at the Vlei and then doing the Bosco / Circus loop.

Having been off the bike for several weeks with sporadic rides in between, I was seriously concerned. Most of my rides recently have involved commuting which is entirely different from training rides in a bunch of racing snakes.

The ride got off to an auspicious start when I got a snake-bite puncture (no it wasn't any of the racing snakes) less than 2 km from kick-off. Then a few Km later it was Spas09's turn to get one.

Thankfully after that, it was pretty much all go without any other problems. It's been a while since I last did Lido hill towards walkerville so that one hurt a bit. :o

Some attacks occured going up this hill lead by Oxand no counter attacks. IanJ kept up a nice steady pace with me following close on his wheel. I'm not sure it was a mini counter attack but we ended up leaving the main group behind and went pretty hard up the hill. Blowing like a steam-train, I ebentuall fell off but recovered after the crest. Ok, so hurdle one over and done with. Next major one was the little incline just after Boscos. Eish, I tried hard but couldn't stay in touch with the lead group. :(

Circus and the turn north hadme seriously worried. I knew that pain lay ahead. Long flat section to KR and then the dreaded steps. I just picked a wheel, I think it was Kid, can't really remember much because of my O2 deprived brain and it's recent lack of function especially in the memory department. What a cool section it turned out to be. I just focussed on the wheel and zenned. Before I knew, it was over and the steps loomed. Kid is defintely the new king of this terrain. I seem to have lost touch.

Turned out to be an magic ride. Reminded me pretty much of all the things I love about this sport. Nice cool weather with a bit of drizzle nw and then to keep things cool.

Thanks guys, I loved that ride. It was magic.

I was tasked to ride for 4 to 5 hours, mostly at 60-85% HRmax. On the hills I could take it to 90% max. I rode according to that. No attacks were done, I just pushed my HR to where I was tasked to take it. :)

Generally succeeded with my task, and had a really cool (kewl not cold) ride to boot. Was a bit "moeg" towards the end, and the legs are still shouting abuse at me, but oh well...

Need to go for an easy 60 minute ride tomorrow (think it will be the afternoon, and I'll take the humber and a few tools to set everything up correctly!)

Thanks to all who rode with this morning, it was a really great ride, and a superb way to start my two week bootcamp!

Apologies Kid. only just saw your "invite" to do that again.

This weekend my plans are simple. I need to take a seriously long ride and work out some issues. I am planning a solo ride to SBR and back to Oakdene. Probably going to do it on Saturday. Longish ride to SBR, full long lap, and then home again. I recon about 140 km of h3ll.

Ok, the ride there will be easy. so only 100 km of hill work. Will do this ride a few times from the middle of the year when DC training kicks into high gear.

If I wasn't doing a little trip then I would join you for that Slave.

Thanks for Saturday, it was great! Nice ride. Pity so short though. I was feeling good up the Steps.

Next time we should do Bosco twice following by Nampak once. Also a 4 or 5 laps of the Cradle would be good training. Or two times of Berge en Dale.
