Did Breedtsnek as a LSD training ride this weekend.

 

Total Distance: 61.2 km's

Total Ascent: 920 m

Average Speed: 19.5 kph

 

Man that hill on the way back from the shop is one long and steep bugger and to think that I had a couple of mates who did it twice Shocked

O ja I know.... gravel road crossing Magalliesberg from Maanhaarrand to Buffelspoort dam!!!!! Tough one that. I once saw dassies, black eagle, klipspringer and "vaalribbok" on that road.

Between Magaliesburg and Rustenburg (Maanhaarrant).

It is a favorate training ride of mine. I stay about 20km from there. The best thing is that it carries very few cars. Some Sunday mornings I encounter no trafic at all.

Most people park there cars at a shop close to Hekpoort store (canot remember the name), then it is about a 60km ride there and back.

The road is nowhere near Hekpoort.... same area though. You start at Maanhaarrand (15km from Magalliesburg on the R24), turn right off the R 24 and start climbing towards the North. towards the R104 (old N4)

Here are some images from GE

 

1st: The climb facing you after approx 22k's of gradual ascent. The top of the climb is 25k's after starting from the garage.

The 2nd: The downhill to the shop at the T-Junction is all of 5k's which one climbs again on the return journey.
