Hi Di Wayne, Olivedale, Ride (MTB) most weekends northern farms and spruit. Missus is Maxine, Rides an MTN but prefers to do it on the road. We should maybe meet at northerns one weekend and start a safety group. Your house can not be more than about 3km from mine... Anyone else in the area interrested? (Please remember we are beginners and are not doing heavy mileage just yet).

Glad this thread has managed to get some folks sorted with ride buddies.

 

Perhaps we could post when and where we are training if we are alone, may help get us in touch with fellow cyclists on the day

I have just received an email about yet another cyclist who was mugged. I'm not sure of the area but it sounds like it was in the Pierre van Ryneveld/Irene area again. Guy was riding in the veld on his way home after work. It doesn't sound like he was injured.

 

I had a discussion today with friends (all of them Hubbers). They can't understand why I am apprehensive about riding Breedtsnek alone as I did so a few months ago. They feel it is totally safe as there are lots of cyclists who ride that route, including our very own Nancy Drew who often rides it alone. I can't decide whether I'm just being too cautious or not.
