I'd love to know how much(and what) drugs the DAKAR guys take

We helped two Russian guys three years back who broke down on our site in  Guinea.   I would say they were one 100% proof Vodka, matching the comsumption of their car drop for drop.

Lines from a song you all know

"I used to do a little, but a little wouldn't do so a little got more and more"

"I just cant seem to get a litttle better, a little better than befooore"

Maybe this is what all our heros believed?

Mr Basso, Mr Riis, Mr Ulrich, Mr Mr mr mr mr mr mrs..........

Cycling is in the limelight because it's such an endurance sport. Nobody will suspect a ten pin bowl player to dope.

This is sad and it puts a damper on this whole issue: I just read two local riders were suspended for a year for use of ephedrine.

Surprisingly its all hype, if one takes the statistics from 2007 SAIDS in conjuction with WADA conducted 1706 for all sports with only 22 positive results, cycling is not the most tested and yielded no positive in 2007.

Rugby, deemed to be one of the most drugged sports tested 247 in season and 184 out had the most tests, with only 1 positive and that was for cannabinoid, hardly deemed to be performance enhancing, athletics 372, soccer 252 and cycling 161. Power lifting had the most positive results with 4 positives from 82 samples, surfing has 2 (cannabis - surprisng NOT,) snooker, lifesaving, shooting and tug of war making up the rest.

What is the standard term ban the riders get if they get caught out?

Is it: the worse the drug, the longer the ban? Or is it standard 2 years?
