Normally it would ahve cost you R300 to register and R70 per race (*7)' date=' so it woulda cost you R790 anyway? If it's run properly I'm happy to pay the extra, add into that the media coverage allowing for more leverage with spoonsors. Step in the right direction.[/quote']

I did that sum long ago. If you are going to do all the races, then it makes sense. But if you are only going to do 4 races then it gets a bit expense

2008 Spring League there were 69 subvets riding - think the nr's will drop a lot because of the cost now.  I mean' date=' what rider aiming for 57th place on the log will pay R850 for that priviledge?

So CycleLab is pocketing a lot with this since they now run the League...

But if numbers drop...?

Train harder and you wont be running for 57th place. No offence but that is the most silly excuse Ive ever heard of, of why not to enter a race vs the price you pay.

The point is someone will win and someone will come last its a fact of life and I know someone who enters league every year and gets dropped but when I spoke to him sometime ago he says he loves the racing and every season is getting alittle better. Thats was a good enough answer for me.

I think that everyone who is able to, should ride league. it is awesome and it certainly makes you a better cyclist.

However with the new structure, if you are going to miss 2 races or more, it is going to get expensive

If I do league(SubVet), I'll aim for top10-15, but that's btw.

Its about the cost vs benefit for me.  Maybe for some its fine, but i do not believe that a rider who gets dropped in every league race is getting more benefit than he would by competing in the D-F groups.

Different if you're in A-D maybe, cause then there'll be fewer riders in those grps during league races, which is not good.

add in the additional R1 500 for team entry as well. wrks out to R150 per event.  if you are not in a team but individually sponsored your sponsor will not be mentioned in the results. a bit of a problem for squads of more than five.

geesh...you guys can moan!!! We moan cycling needs more coverage to get sponsors involved and get cycling in the western cape on "the map". This is happening now and we moan about it. Some people say "this is too much that will not work!"..."why this why that!!!!". We need to take small steps to make cycling better and this is only the first step....please support it. Big%20smile

I like to race and if I get dropped I will come back and try harder not to get dropped. If your goal is to finish in the main bunch and you get dropped the first few races you try the next one till you achieve your goal. The feeling that you achieve a goal is usually enough motivation to come back for more.OuchBig%20smile

I have the most respect for those people in the Leagues that hang in there for dear life and when they finished they have a smile on their face because for them it is "fun" and personal accomplishment. If there was no use for someone to ride league because he is going to get 59th, only 3 guys who has a realistic chance should enter then????? With that mentality NO ONE WILL RACE!!Confused

I train hard....to go ride in C bunch with 6 other people is not fun for me. League is an experience and everyone should at least take a go at it once...if you never tried it...go and do it or make it your goal for spring 2009. You will look at cycling completely different when you ride league....in a positive way!!Thumbs%20Up

For me it is not about winning but personal goals. I think people in general get way too serious about life and cycling....this league is going to be fun and good competition!!!Clap

Do you know how hard it is for the Hub to hear since Spring 2007 that you are coiming to ride league the next Spring then summer then spring and now summer league and then at the 12hr decide you not going to come and race cause of something.

Bite the bullet dude and come and race.

True, maybe it's all just because I ride a R3k roadbike and feel I don't have to spend thousands(although I would like to) to be good or improve.

And busy buying a bakkie and renovating home, which means that my financial priorities does not include R500 extra to do 4 league races, where admittedly I will enjoy the racing more.

So yes, if I do not have more urgent use for R's I will see you in summer league.  Or spring, or summer, or springWink

The price of your bike has nothing to do with it and no one has made any comment about the price of your bike. I dont think anyone cares what you ride more of the fact that you come and race and have fun and there is no better way to improve than to race.

ja ja...

i'm not here for 3 of the 7 rides. If it was a scenario where you pay entry fee per race i'd still do it, but I cant justify that money on 4 races. Do you know how frikking expensive weddings are Wink
