Lorry door opening - hairy escape this morning

On our ride this morning there was two lorries parked in a bus bay. As (bad) luck would have it just as we passed them another lorry passed us on the road. The front lorry was parked at a skew angle and the gap became a funnel. Just as we passed the front lorry with the moving lorry next to us the wind blew the door open. I just had time to shout and ducked under the door. My blood froze because EM was right behind me. We got through unscathed. When I regained composure I asked her how did she know to duck as she has almost no view forward. She coolly replied "stoker sixth sense" Later we had a talk about it. Apparrently very early when we started tandemming she learnt that in any pending crisis moment to concentrate in watching my movements. That most likely saved her life today. Uncanny aint it.

That is freaky... We had a similar experience on a motorbike a few months ago...

the car in front of us stopped at a red robot and as we came up next to them, the passenger tried to get out, we hit the door, bent it in half and messed the front of the bike. Fortunately it was slow and we were already stopping for the light.

Only injuries were a broken wrist and a scratched helmet.

Does it matter??????

The door was blue and would have klapped me right in the face. We worked on Cadence this morning and was travelling at 35 km/hour.

Big H, bly julle is ok.  Wys jou net wat jare se saamry op 'n tandem vir mens kan doen.  Niks so goed soos ondervinding nie.  Kan jy jou indink wat sou gebeur het as jy met 'n nuwe stoker in daai situasie was?
