Works out to R 20.00ish for the power link vs R 350.00ish for a cleaner. Works well for me.

AndreZA Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 what is wrong with a bit of rust? You should see my chain. It rained Sunday on my way home and had to leave the bike outside untill I could clean it. Just take a hand full of steel wool and runn the chain through it.
Moab Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Okay... so how do you install the power link(having not seen one before)? I would guess that you would have to break the chain and remove 2 links and replace them with the power link?
AndreZA Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 YOu need to remove 2 pins = 1 outer link. The Quicklink has the 2 pins and 2 outer plates. just feed the through the holes, set them in place and pull the chain tight.

markStockton Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Nitro - I read somewhere leaving the paraffin residue on the chain stops your lube getting into the link and is thus pad. This is why the rinse is a good idea. Di - Only one link.

Slowbee Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 and Di, dont be like a beginner, and loose the pins and have to take the chain in a bag to the bike shop. Which of course will be full of people as you walk in and the owner says at the top of his voice, "a plastic bag with no bike is always bad news....."
