Hi there

Anybody know of a MTB route between Sandton and Fourways? Maybe it has been posted in the past, apologies for asking AGAIN then.

Thanks

Where in Sandton to where in Fourways?

In general the pavements in Fourways and Bryanston have a pretty amazing selection of fun single track and then the spruit can be linked into the route where necissary.

I've ridden up the side of Witkoppen up to Merrowdown  (the robot after the Peaugot dealer) and down to Douglas Drive, both are fun. Douglas to Grosvenor over William Nicole and down to the spruit is also fun. Nasty climb comming back.

Be carefull of Merrowdown to the bike park, especially on main road. Lots of bike jacking's there. Also not to sure about the spruit from 12th Ave to William Nicole there where problems there last year and I don't think it is advisable to ride alone along it.

I'm sure with a bit of exploring you could come up with some excellent routes.

Pavement seems to be the way, i went expoloring pretty much that route 2 weekends ago, some of the pavements are not rideable leaving you at the mercy of some of Joburgs finest, driving taxi's.

Yes' date=' I will be riding alone at this stage, so yes, looks like it might be side of the road and pavement for now... grrrrrr[/quote']

I do lots and lots of road / pavement riding in and around Fourways and Bryanston. It is a bucket load of fun and really improves your skills. Don't knock it till you tried.

And the best part about pavement riding? Pedalling up a hill, sweat everywhere, hardly able to breathe, legs burning at 10kph and passing all the cars with a huge smile!

I don't know what's better, commuting via the Spruit or the pavements...

Smile, grimace... same thing really when it's accompanied by grunts. Wink
