bicycle insurance claims

Can you ask insurance to pay you out personally? I would like different goodies to what is currently on the bike? What about damaged parts? I would LOVE to hang my damaged bike above my bar and tell war stories. Will insurance let you take it? do you buy it from them?

anyone with experience in these matters please advise..

I advised the Outsurance assessor that I was going to pay the bike shop directly to expedite the repairs. He arranged for me to be paid out directly, and this happened within a week. Big%20smile

However I did make sure that they approved the claim and that I used an approved bike shop for the repairs.

BTW - the damaged parts are sitting in a bag on my work bench. I think this is because the assessor photographed the damage to the bike before it went into the shop.

Think it all depends on the insurance company. The couple of claims I have had my insurance just asked for a quote from a bike shop,no assessor even got involved, they transfered the money straight into my account.

You should be able to FanD - I have done it a couple of times with no hassles. Especially with bits that aren't available in this country. I'm with CycleSure.
