Hate to be bearer of bad news but my wife was at the doctors room on Monday morning at about 10h00 when a badly injured cyclist was brought in by his sister.

Apparently he was pushed off the road between Kiblerpark going towards Zumbug by a truck and hit the tar hump on the side of the road (just after Rhema Church entrance road). He had blonde hair and was in his twentys wearing a blue cycling top and pants. Badly injured eye and maybe a broken wrist and a big hole in his shirt.

The doctors sent him to casulty immediately.

Thank goodnes he was not killed and that he had a cellphone to call for help.

Hope you get better dude.

We ride this route at least 3 ~ 4 a week and always considered this part stretch safer than most.

That?s not a pretty road in the afternoon. I used to do that run in the afternoons a couple of years ago but then realized at what speeds the motorists were doing on that stretch sometimes (yes, even the trucks).

The @sh0les even overtake on the yellow line.... especially the traffic going to Lens.

Advice - cycle on the "Rand Water Board" road, very little motorists and a nice stretch.

Hope he gets well soon.

This section of road worries me every time I ride it.

The wind suck when those trucks pass at speed is scary and motorists speed like hell on this road.

That hump is another problem and I see that someone has painted yellow stripes on it to make it more visible. Been there for more years than I care to remember.

Has anyone tried to get council to get it removed?

(Think I'm going to take a pick out there one day soon and try and take it away.)

Hope the cyclist makes a full recovery. This is not great news. If anyone knows who it is, please give us an update.

When I did road 3 years ago, that hump was there. Will be a big job to remove it and then seal the tar.

I think it can be removed without too much effort. Not sure how the tar willlook afterwards, but I suspect that we could remove it without too much damage.

The title of this thread is misleading. Sounds to me the rider went over a piece of uneven tar and fell. I cant believe that anyone would push a cyclist off the road intentionaly. Unless he were riding in the middle of the road.

I agree, but that hump is dangerous. I know it's there, but for thise who don't, it's a moerse thing and someone was bound to get hurt one day.

Another thing that irks me with town council is the state of the roads, but I guess that's a whole nother ball-of-wax.

I saw a dog disappear down a pothole in the hood the other day. Next day there was one of those missing posters at the local shops. Dued wouldn't give me the reward cause he said he never found his dog.
