Speaking for myself, I do it out of politeness and because I believe I will be understood by a larger portion of the readers out there. I find some people being so quick to point and correct, but their grasp on the Afrikaans language is even worse than my limited one of the English language. Some might find some weird pleasure in being one up on another person when it comes to their own, native language - but that is no great feat, but fairly obvious surely? So yes, I bow to the English speaking people on this forum who has a better command of their own language than I do. Yet I still managed to pass matric with a B for English, albeit as second language. Some people get their kicks out of weird things I guess - each to his own.
