Personally I think they should fire the engineer / programmer at MYRACE and hire a high school kid - would be a lot better.!

My eldest has just gone into high school. Who should he apply

to?

Please be so kind as to send me the documentation on the procurement' date=' specification and tender process followed to appoint MyRACE.

By the way are you saying here that we are starting legal procedings against My Race.

Interesting to see that MYRACE also does development for Boland Cycling Association website .... www.bolandcycling.co.za ....

With licence being compulsory just about on each and every cyclists in an event; the numbers have significantly increased in the demand for licenses ... CSA should have expected this demand and should have be prepared for this type of increase in numbers!

Say what you want with regards to the Myrace licensing system.... but on the Boland site, the results of the TdB was up within 20 minutes after it was given to the organiser.

No Sir' date=' I did not meet all my promises. I will send you a card (in person) tomorrow - the system that we introduced two years ago is - for many certain and uncertain reasons, failing us.

We are taking extreme steps to remedy the situation asap - including taking legal steps -not that that is any consolation for anyone still waiting, which I personally regret.

Once we deliver everyone's cards, I will return to you and your ilk. Oh, please send the new road commissioner all the files you retained after your hasty retreat - and accept my apologies for posting the request here - seems as if my emails failed to find you.
[/quote']

I hope this doesn't imply that he will only get his licence after you receive the filesConfused

Hi there, as a club comitee member we were told at our Ocktober 2008 Mpumalanga meeting the following.

The word from CSA is that the online licence system has a lot of hick-ups.

Use the old paper system and only change the date at the top.

Fees stayed the same and reason for this disicion came from CSA head office meeting.

Our club applied in this way early November 2008 and we got our licences  late January no problems!

If anyone need licence form 2009 e-mail me at andreraleigh@yahoo.com and i will gladly send u a copy

Pity that info was not communicated down to the masses who were ENCOURAGED to use the web site.!

Although, I really still dont know whose real fault it is for the lengthy delays and issues, MYRACE or CSA - I suspect its a bit of both.!

CSA need to get the licensing admin out of the way so that they can start concentrating on the important stuff like CYCLING SAFETY!  <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

At this rate there will be a lot less license applications next yearOuch.  Or maybe that is the idea??Angry

PS: Have not received my license yet and really don?t care. LOL

PS,PS: Funny I walk into my local running shop, filled in the forms and walk out with my running license?? Shocked

I hope CSA/Argus orgs will have enough skilled resources to handle the amount of cyclists pitching up at reg that have applied for but dont have their lic.

I have gotten two mails (a while apart) that confirm that my license has been received and approved etc etc.  I just take that letter along to every race along with my old license and haven't had any problems with any of the race organisers yet.

So if anyone has received a mail like that, just take it along.  I'm sure the Argus organisers know about the license problems by now.

Hey, I'm only a cyclosport, start in the double letter seeding, type of guy but, apparently I will be able to do the Argus in 2:20-ish as I am now lisenced as ELITE. Do I swipe my new card at the start or finish to get my discounted time?

Well, there you go mate.

I concur, I get my running license every year within three days, I just pay my subs and its there.

CSA is trying to force the issue through clubs, which in my opinion are about as usefull as a "cockroach on a wedding cake" - we are now in the 21st century, we are big boys and girls, we dont need clubs anymore to hold our hands, deal with us directly and see what the issues are.

Hiding behind a "club" scenario is just typical of beurocratic operations, how many times have you heard "we dont want to deal with the public they must go through the channels" , well newsflash boys, ignore us at your peril, the CLUBS / RETAILERS / DESTINATIONS / TOUR COMPANIES /ETC  are NOT YOUR CUSTOMERS - WE ARE.!

I am not saying dont belong to one if you like, thats a personal choice, I personally dont believe they serve any purpose whatsoever - I joined one just to make my license application easier (or so I thought) - I never go there and I hardly even know who the chairman is (or care)!!.

..............anyway - go figure, joining the club, helped squat! Dead

I hear you Alida, but thats not the issue.!!

The issue is everybody waiting has paid up front for a useless bit of plastic or a photcopy (depending on who you speak to) and personally I want mine - I paid for it and I expect it.

It can be likened to walking into Pick & Pay for a TV and they say, "Pay us now, heres a reciept and we will sort of send your TV to a depot closest to you in due course, - you will have to go collect it.."?

Oh, and if you maybe feel like watching TV in the interum, cos this can take three months, please take this reciept to any store and you can watch there for free, no problems."!

How would you feel about that? Would you buy again from Pick and Pay, I doubt it, but they have competitors and look after their customers, unlike the CSA / MYRACE monopoly.

Not really the same thing at all Porky.  In your example its like buying a TV and not getting the warranty card with it.  Not really a big deal.  Surely your only concern is whether you can race or not? What difference does it make if you have to carry a stupid piece of plastic or a stupid piece of paper to prove you are a licensed rider?

Perhaps you guys should have a look at CSA's (sadly very woeful) budgets which are presented every month on the website.  I assume they are reasonably accurate and they are very informative.  The system seemed pretty easy to use to me, but I imagine people trying to run club admin from home using a dial-up connection may have problems.  Can't really expect CSA to deal with that - up the club fees and get a decent computer and connection.

Porky - you want to use the club issue and compare running with cycling?  The comparison is also not valid for numerous other reasons.  How long do you wait for results for a running race?  Anyone know when the Hillcrest (NIMAS) marathon results will be out? Race was on 15 Feb.  Running's admin and back-up is slow and manual.  The reason you get your number early is because they are sponsored, preprinted and pre-ordered in bulk quantity by clubs.  Great to get license numbers to runners but useless in developing a decent results, timing and seeding database.

BTW - this doesn't excuse the late delivery of licenses by CSA.  It should, could and no doubt will become an efficient process.  The problem is expectations are way in excess of the funding and relative stage of development.  These things take time.
