beren Posted March 2, 2009 Share I have been riding an entry level bike for a number of years now - a Trek 3700. Done some really cool races on it, but I want to start upgrading. Ideally I would love to get a new bike, but with 2 new additions to the family that just ain't gonna happen. So, the question is, what components should I start with? I'd really like to get a set of disc brakes, but maybe I should get derailleurs first? Any advice welcome!
Fleming Posted March 3, 2009 Share Wheels or suspension fork. In terms of performance advantages that you will feel these are the places to start. I would only upgrade deraillers and shifters as they wear out. If you gonna look at upgrading wheels it might be worth doing the brakes at the same time as a lot of wheels are V-brake or Disc specific.
droo Posted March 3, 2009 Share Fork. It's the best thing I ever did to my bike. Then wheels and brakes. Then anything that breaks. Unless you're looking for a weight advantage or an upgrade to 9 speed, everything else pretty much works the same.
