Hi all..

Yes, I am lazy. I used to ride years back as a sponsored rider (Anyone remember Robbie Dale cycles or Union Cycles?)

Well, I want to get back in the saddle... not that I havent been riding, but I want to start riding as I used to.

Now I need convincing. As I said - I am lazy.

I'm needing tips in how to get my fitness back up, to lose that spare tyre I now have... and to start being competative again!!

Any help, greatly appreciated!!

Thats my problem - I am so lazy, I'll enter for a race, and then not bother training for it, and then a week before the ride I'll be crapping myself and going balistic, which doesnt do anything for me...

Sorry, but I'm way too lazy to solve your lack of motivation problem

he-he, you should know better!

Get a training program and update it with actuals against plan on a daily or weekly basis.  You mate, life-partner, boss or personal trainer should monitor your progress...

Preferably someone you sh*t scared of!!Ouch

Maybe you would like to be out into place nice incentives if you complete a week's program i.e.

Week 1 - Get a new bike

Week 2 - Get a new bike...

Week 16 - Get a new partner LOL

There is no magic pill that will give you motivation. If you don't enjoy riding, chances are this will fickle out again.

If you used to do road, try mtb. Try figure out why you want to ride and focus on that, as just wanting to will definitely change with your mood.

Also maybe join a club or get some okes around you who enjoys cycling and can invite you along (and deny your excuses)

I used to ride MTB and road... right now, all I have is my road bike... I love cycling, been doing it since I was a pikinin. Unfortunetly my career doesnt allow for much extra activities - I'm a chef.....and it doesnt help the spare wheel!!

don't you guys work at night?

*** excuse, just go ride your bike. you'll make time.

nb. if you're a chef in Secunda/Sasolburg/Postmasburg(replace with appropriate mining/industrial town), then i understand, but if you're looking for reasons to ride a bicycle, you've come to the wrong place.
