Hi guys,

At the bike park on Wednesday the one guy spotted that I am spokeless. (Well, missing only one.)

When Loon sold me the bike he gave me plenty spokes for my bike. Now, dumb question: how do I replace a spoke?

Go to bike shop, wearing something discussed in the other topic (maybe the pushup type), revealing the objects discussed in the other topic ever so slightly, and ask "can someone please fix a spoke?"

Should I do the whole girly thing and take a spoke and ask them what it is and where it would have come from? LOL

This is the one instance where I'll suggest you go to a bike shop or a wheelbuilder. There are so many different lengths of spokes that sourcing them will take you longer than learning how to replace it.

Since you have bags full of the stuff, your job is easy. Just replace it and tighten it until the wheel doesn't wobble anymore. I hope you have the right spoke spanner for those funny Mavic spoke nipples. It looks like a plastic ninja toy. It is useless, but should tighten one spoke before it strips.

Aag sorry man.

My eyesight is so poor that I won't know the difference. At my age you often have to work purely by touch.

I'm not joking about my eyes either. I broke a pair of glasses and waited ages for the optometrist to make another pair. They came back making my head spin. They tried again and they're much better. At that stage I started bragging to my friends about the fancy memory-metal my glasses are made from. I could bend them into all sorts of shapes and boing, they just recovered by me adding a bit of body heat.

However, there are limits. I went slightly beyond the limit and now Im blind again.

However, please issue me with a voucher for the offer and Ill redeem it when my new glasses come.

Well Johan since I have no idea what Di-CPD looks like' date=' I thought it best you let the Hub know, in the technical details that we're used to..[/quote']

LOL Yes, the ever illusive Di is only known to a handful of hubbers! But Di really wants to get da spoke sorted. Cause she is no engineer but knows that riding spruit without a spoke could cause damage to her steed.

ya dont need to be an engineer. just take off the rim strip, see which spoke matches the ones already on, look at how the others are laced, copy this (you might need to slightly bend the spoke to get it in and around) Drop the new nipple in from the top through the hole, thread it and tighten. Very easy and can be done in 5 mins

And don't take it to Cycle Lab! They charged me R50 to do that challenging task (and the spoke pulled through my rim 2 weeks later!) Granted the revealing top might help you more than it would have helped me...
