Fleming Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I ride a 2008 GT Zaskar Expert (Aluminium frame) with a aluminium seat post and it creaks alot. A friend suggested that I grease the seatpost. Is this advisable? I have never greased the seatposts on any of my previous bikes and never had any creaking problems.
mudda Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 My seatpost creaked - it was dirt - take it out clean it - grease it - see if it behaves.
wisecrack Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Had the same proplem on my cervelo RS took it out slapped some carbon grease on the sucker and no more irritating sounds. Also sprayed the rails of my Fizik with some q20.
Johan Bornman Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Grease may silence the seatpost but cause other more serious problems. I've written about this many times. Do a search under my posts with something like "emulsion", "dynamic joint", or "freeze".
Fleming Posted March 21, 2009 Author Posted March 21, 2009 Are you sure its not the saddle rails? I had considered that it could be this but its a little difficult to tell. Will try giving everything a good clean and take it from there.
