I'm in the process of lining up all the ingredients for a ghetto tubeless conversion. The only two items I'm struggling to find are the Liquid Latex & some OKO sealant. I've tried the local Mica with no luck.

Anybody know where I can get the above items in JHB (preferably somewhere close to Rivonia)?

WW hahahaha i dont know but you should feel the difference because when OKO spins in the wheel it feels like you have a really bad hop but when stans is in there it is a little bit better

Hey Turtlek, thanks for the info, but I made a decision sometime back not to spend any of my cash at FPC.

Also, it makes no sense to be doing a dirtbag (read: cheap) conversion and then spending money at a shop like FPC to get it done.

I would think that neither should make the tyre feel like it has a bad hop. Surely the central fugal force would spread it all out pretty evenly?

Supermil

in all three years of me using oko i use so much that it only spreads evenly over the whole tire after a few months

and because of OKO's thick consistancy and weight people tend to shy away from it

so for the first few rides if using the right amount it will feel like the wheel has a hop but after that it should be good to go

also if you go to any BMW dealership ask the mfor the workshop foreman and then askj him to sell you oko because thats the sealant they use in the tires of BMW's when serviced

Super mil, PM Johan Bornman. He is known to experiment with cheap concoctions. I remember him saying that he bought a 5l carton of some carpet glue or similar. He invited hubbers to come get some, because it eventually goes off after a while.

I'm sure a search for "johan, tubeless and carpet" will yield results.

Hey, I bought a liter of liquid latex from a place in goodwood - I know that doesnt help you much though because you are in jhb.

But before I found this place I did some local google searches and there is quite alot of places that sells the stuff.

The place I got it from sells rubber moulded products, so thats probably the right place to look for.

You dont really need to add to much else into that. Try add some rubber filings or sawdust if you can. There is so many different variants out there how to make your own concoctions. I even found a online patent for a mixture that uses normal flour. I wanted to build this one but I didnt know where to find calcium cloride though.
