That's for AFTER you tried the proper escalation:

1. speak to ChampionChip direct (done' date=' no help)

2. speak to the ChampionChip contact boss.  ChampionChip CEO (has anyone tried ???)

3. speak to ChampionChip's paycheck (the event organisers)  And you tell them the ChampionChip CEO was rude to you.

Only AFTER you've told me you've done all three, should you go to a public forum (Hello Peter, Radio 702, toy-toy in the streets)  You shouldn't go directly to mob justice.

[/quote']

Agreed. I have contacted Mr Hechter, but from Sue's cocky response, the tales

I have heard about him and what Hubber have said here, I have little hope...

After that I'm writing to the cycling magazines...

After that I start toyi-toying...

Good!

If possible, quote the e-mails when you write the cycling magazines and the event organisers.  Quote the dates and times of the phone calls, and who was on the other end.

Collect ammunition and facts.

Tomorrow I want to see everyone who moaned about them post all that info.  EigerSA will get his wish of TheHub agreeing on something Smile

Jeremy' date=' seems you have some insight into this. But I have to ask why was WT prepared to compete on pure service alone? Was it because they knew they could rely on their PPA appointments. Also, did it perhaps have something to do with the fact that acceptance and distribution of CC chips was superior?

[/quote']

To some extent. However, the selling of the chips is a minor part of the business.

They also saw the benefit in people not having to use multiple chips (ever used a

WT chip at a CC race or vice versa?).

As for market penetration (in SA), I reckon WT outsells CC by a country mile...

By the way' date=' I don't think it was just a threat of going to court. If I remember correctly, they actually obtained a court order?

[/quote']

Nope - no court order, just a lawyers letter. WT knew it was going to get nasty and

expensive if they didn't back down, so they did. Apparently you don't mess with

Mr Hechter.

I agree though: the best solution would be to split the chip distribution from the actual timing. I reckon there must be an opportunity for a third player like Spectrum to enter the road racing space and kick some WT and CC butt!

SS and WT are both pretty relaxed regarding competition from each other.  They

are not in completely overlapping markets, though. SS is smaller and can't handle

events like the Argus, so WT are happy to let them handle the events they can't or

don't want to. It might heat up in the future, though.

CC are the ones worried about losing market share and who are using the lock-in

strategy to keep the others out of "their" market.

In collection mode:

Anyone prepared to offer me information on similar problems they have had

with CC?

Good luck jmaccelari, at the very least you know that the hubbers are behind you on this (in fact, if you do manage to get hold of the ceo, point him to this forum)... no more so than barend... good on you!

...

I have emailed Colin Hecter.

I wonder if I'll get a reply?

If you have the same experience as me you will receive a mail that is addressed to one of his colleagues where he berates you and asks his colleague to look into it to shut you up. You know... one of those very embarrassing e-mails that we all send at some point in our life.

He never bothered to apologise or sort out my query.

Yep - I also had one that broke (which is why I wear it on my ankle), but

once again, CC don't care...

I've had a run in with this Sue lady today as well

Is it really true that one cannot transfer ownership of a Championchip to a new person?

I have two for some reason, want to give one to a colleague.

She refuses point blank to change it into his name.

IS this correct?

Its not just championchip, Racetec wont do it either and to be honest its understandable. All your past results are linked to that chip.

I have multiples of both chips lying around and nothing can be done with them but at least I have a spare when I cant find one......

Cool thanks.

Seems silly that there is no capacity to make a change - last time this one was used was like 2005 and I think it has one reset on it.

Wasteful.
