  1. Looking at buying a Garmin Forerunner and hoping to use the Vitality Device benefit and possible miles. Does anyone know if its possible to use the Device benefit and miles on D-Day? How would I get this? do you still get D-day miles if you pay instore?
  2. Hi Robert, I have a XT shifter and derailleur but I'm really not fussed if it's SLX or whatever. I will be back in JHB in 2 weeks. Can try make a plan when I'm back to collect. Thanks.
  3. Looking for a Front Derailleur and shifter if anyone has one lying around. I run a 2x11 Shimano setup and my front shifter is giving me hassle. Derialleur is still fine but limiting screws have seized although if I shift fast it always pushes the chain over the top chainring. Cape Town area - In Tokai
  4. Not all but a fair few! Not very Brainy if you ask me! 😉
  5. I had the Cannondale Scalpel Si Team with the 2.0 Carbon Lefty. Absolutely awful! Mate of mine had the same also didnt like it. I got rid of mine he was convinced by the bike shop to "upgrade" to the new Scalpel which came with the Ocho because it was supposed to be a massive improvement. 6 months later he got rid of it and and moved to a Scott RC. Maintainance on them is a nightmare and the maintainance intervals are ridiculous, We both constantly had issues where it wouldnt compress the full amount and then you would have to let all the air out, compress is manually yourself to realing the needle bearing tracks or whatever and then it would work again for a short while.
  6. I know more people who have bought Cannondales only to get rid of them cos they hate the Lefty! Me being one of them... Worst shock ever invented!
  7. 55km to go but my Garmin just told me I need a 3.5 day rest 😱 Think I will have to take a very easy trundle round tomorrow!
  8. Someone tell Vetseun the "Kiewit" he is off route!!!!!!
  9. You will all have a ball! For the first timers less is more. I can remember my first stage race and taking the entire kitchen sink. ???? Really not necessary! Pack your riding clothes into daily packets. That way there is no hunting around for everything in the cramped confounds of your tent and keeps things nice and neat! Sleeping bag and pillow!! Ear plugs dont work for me but you can try. Hope the guy in the tent next door doesnt snore! ????‍♂️ Some nice comfy clothes to relax in afterwards and some warm clothing just in case. Check out the weather forecast ahead of the time! Most importantly just have fun! Its a blast!
  10. Thanks droo! Will give it a bash on the weekend!
  11. Here goes! Thought I would revive this thread once again! Decided its time to learn how to do these things myself and have done quite a bit of research but..... Rear Fox float shock seems straight forward enough! Now onto the service of the front Fox 32. I need to know which/how much oil and where to put back into the fork. Its a Fox 32 Factory Kashima - Now I dont know if it is a FIT4 or a FIT iRD. The sticker on the shock only read FIT. I have looked for a serial number and found a sticker saying CWN7 and serial number is 553472-0002-W I have looked on the Fox website but this still hasnt given me a clear indication other than it is a 2016 fork as follows Serial number: 553472-0002-W Part number: 910-01-842 Short ID: CWN7 Description: 2016, 32, K, FLOAT, 29in, F-S, 100, iRD, FIT, Blk, Orange Logo, 15QR, 1.5 T, 44mm Rake, AMfollows But mine doesnt seem to fall in that category as its a 120mm and not a 100mm but maybe Im expecting a bit much? The oil chart I see is from which I deduce: Oil type is 20wt Air-Side - 25cc Option 1 below Air Chamber 3cc Option 3 Damper Side 20cc Option 7 - I have presumed I have the iRD here Would really be great if one of the experts out there can confirm this. Thanks in advance!
  12. -1 for the Wahoo. mine barely lasted 2 weeks and started playing up and now after 3 months is absolutely useless. Always says my HR is 135ish and apparently according to google a fairly common problem. Gone back to Garmin. Anyone know how to fix the HR issue?
  13. Sadly I cant "run" very far at all ???? but having done quite a few ultra marathons I am pretty sure I can ride further and longer on my MTB. I am now also contemplating doing Munga, once again on my MTB. So yes, I am pretty sure I can go just as far as anyone on a gravel bike and in a lot more comfort and without having to worry about any technical sections!
  14. For all you guys who seem to be struggling.... its called a MTB!! ???? Grabs coat and runs....
  15. I have never felt like a Canyon was available anywhere in the world never mind in SA! I tried ordering a Canyon for over a year but could never get stock. That was with trying to get delivery in Germany beause I travel to DE regularly for business and could have brought it back to ZA with me. I do not understand how they make any money or sell any bikes because I certainly dont have the patience to wait for a new bike for months on end having already had to pay for it up front.
  16. Keep it coming Sam! Munga is on my bucket list and maybe this will just be the nudge I need to pull the trigger ????
  17. You will run into trouble in the US if you have any local flights with US carriers. I have been nailed a few times and yes they WILL pull out the tape measure normally around $200 per flight
  18. You have lost me on this one.... The shock is completely enclosed so cleaning the frame will be pretty easy. No mud etc should be getting into the shock compartment. Simple wipe the frame while running the hose... voila
  19. On a laptop with windows 10 using Chrome browser
  20. Rapidly losing interest after this "downgrade"! ???? The flow of the old website has been lost, you now have to click on everything to follow links and can no longer hover over to move through the menus. From the home page if you CTRL+rghtclick it doesnt open in a new tab it still opens in the same window. Not always taking me to the last read post. I think I will give the website a break for a few weeks while the gremlins hopefully get sorted out! ????
  21. If it has caused damage and broken parts I would definitely consider taking it up with them. Another thing to consider here would be timeframe. I know you say its done 100km but over what period of time? If you talking about a month plus Im not sure you have a leg to stand on. If it happened within a few days/on your next ride them maybe, anything more if I were a bike shop owner I would be asking the question of whether you had tinkered with it and now making it the bike shops problem. I know, your word against theirs... Personally I cant be bothered wasting my time with bike shops and getting aggro when 99% of the time they wont admit fault and you just end up wasting your time. School fees, move on and I wouldn't be using them again in future.
  22. Probably not the answer your looking for but mechanics 101 - Learn to index your own gears I have found bike shops never index gears properly even when you tell them there is an issue, I dont have time to cart the bike back and forth when it will take you 5 mins and less hassle to do it yourself. All comes down to how much aggro and time wasting you want to spend at the bikeshop. Setting the limiting screws and then adjusting the gears with the barrel adjuster is really easy. Youtube is your friend.
  23. Slightly off topic but maybe also other peoples bugbears as well. I can only save the course as a GPX which when downloaded to my Garmin the Garmin 520 doesn't pick it up. Am I doing something wrong and is there a way to save it as a FIT file? Or an easy way to convert it to a FIT file.....
