andretraut Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 I was also stuck between the Merida and Cube. Am so happy I didn't go with the Merida. Luv my Cube, only thing missing on her is a vagina Next time you ride your Cube past a shop, carefully look at the reflextion in the window...you will see it!
Tjokkits Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 all i know whenever i talk to derick from merida i see real pride in the brand and he is always willing to deal with issues, Cube will have to live up to that
BOXABOY Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Thanks guys, Anybody else with anything to add??Much appreciated.
Seandmerida96 Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Both are great bikes, ride a Merida 96 myself(Surprisingly)and love it. I KNOW you would love both. You really cant go wrong.
Chris_K Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Hi own a second hand Cube LTD for a year and it has been top. She has been dealt some tough conditions and just keeps going with out a hassle, downhill and cross country. I have also noticed that the new Cubes have some nice components too and are good value for money. Google them and you will not find not a bad word on Cube. Sorry to the Merida supporters. Cheers and good luck!
Ashchest Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 If you are stuck between the 2 bikes and thinking... oooh....should I get the cube or should I get the Merida....oooh....I don't know.....eish....what to do. Just get the cube. Some advice. If you thinking of buying locally then rather wait untill the 2011 models are available, they are sooo hot! the 100 now a 110 with ietsie little bit 10mm travel extra (: and improved frame and paint job! I see there are still 2010 models available on CRC for seriously crazy low prices!! I bought my cube locally 2000km ago and had no reason for taking it back except for busting the rear hub, but that was my wrong  going down breedts too fast without tightening the rear QR properly , anyway, LBS replaced the hub for free! C'mon guys, buy them cubes and let us see more of them on the trails!!!

Darryl O Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Hi Just been reading the posts above and have a few points of my own.1) CUBE is cheaper localy than if you buy it on CRC.2) There is a reason why CUBE won Eurobike best Hardtail and best Full Sus design awards this year.3) Every CUBE bike is fully assembled and tested in Germany so dont expect any issues.
CAAD4 Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 http://www.cube.eu/uploads/pics/elite-hpc-sl_01.jpg Admin. Remove this porn immediately! I am offended!
AndreZA Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Admin. Remove this porn immediately! I am offended! That is good looking hey. I like how they took the design of the type from the frame to the wheels. The new XTR cranks looks waaaaay better then the previous generation.
adogshow Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Cube for me. it has the same rear pivot system as the Spesh full suspension bikes. rides like a dream and they are the some of the hottest looking bikes. being brought in locally makes them worth it...
Darryl O Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 The design of the back absorbs vertical shocks but not horizontal. Its like having a small shock at the back.
Darryl O Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I have more pics if you guys are keen to see them

Dual suspension bike I'm looking at = R17K here and R10K at CRC?????
Darryl O Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Boxaboy.. I know you looking at the AMS Comp 2010 and I see CRC has a huge discount. R10k plus R1.5k transport + 15% import duty + 14% VAT Then remember if you take it to bike shop to get it assembled properly - R300Then if baught locally you usually get a free bike setup - R500.Then throw in 1 or 2 free services - R800 Also your warrenty from CRC will be in the UK and not SA for the frame and all components. Example : XMS 2011 CRC = R 11450 therefore your landed cost will be R 16 300.That excludeds all the extras above. Locally the bike is selling for R15 999.Take all the extras into account and you will see bying an XMS locally will save youat least R1k and still have peace of mind and you will have supported the local industry.
