I have 40 rides logged on my Sportstracker site. I have also experimented with it on hikes and car navigation....

It's just so way cool! Easy to use and I can't wait for the N79 to arrive locally! Only thing I hope they have sorted is battery life!!! Lasts about four hours so I obviously didn't log my entire Argus....!

Only 4hrs?? My E71 lasted whole of Argus' date=' and continued until the next day. Btw... what the heck is an xml file? (Sorry mini hijack)

BlueTooth is very very battery heavy - as in they run flat rapidly in comparrison to say ANT, which does the same thing but for much less juice used, hence embraced by the HRM device manufacturers. Zigby is another protocol which is gaining popularity, but again it's more complex to work with than ANT

Agreed, convergence is the future, so all power to Quarq and their open source header unit

There are many ways to reduce the power consumption without degredation:

If bluetooth is set to low power to create a smaller piconet with a range, of say 5m vs 30m, and slave replication is disabled, it will use a lot less power. Also polling should be disabled, the bluetooth should not be made visable and it should actually be in adhoc mode for the HRM device.

With the GPS on (sportstracker), my 2 year old N95 does not even last a full 4 hours. Have a Forerunner 405 (running watch - yes I run a bit) which I use for tracking if needed. It lasts 8 hours and the resolution is a LOT better than that what the N95 gets in my backpocket.

For WM6 you can try Run.GPS.  Also has bluetooth HRM functionality (check Zephyr HRM or HxM).  Battery life probably won't be great with GPS and bluetooth running.
