I'm still confused as to why the OP let his wife make this decision on her own. Does he let her decide on when the car needs new tyres as well? Did she come home and fit the tyres herself? Did they actually need replacing in the first place? Why was she out of the kitchen?

These are the pressing questions raised by this thread, which I do believe need answering before we even discuss the price of any tyre.

Big%20smile - Well, if you read my original post you will see I said "Impatient" so you see she did mention the tyres were somewhat frayed, and I said, dont worry, "honey" when I get a gap, I will get you two new ones, but I skipped a day, and she took matters into her own hands and stopped off to buy her own tyres.

She dos decide when the car needs new tyres, mostly cos she seldom puts any air in them so they generally wear quite irratically, setting up a bit of a shake.

She has a very good gauge of when they are Kaput, "she says she ONLY changes her car tyres when the charms on her arm bracelet rattle together from the vibrating steering wheel" - see very scientific.!

My wife in the kitchen - Ha,..................Shocked!!, Coffee shop, Woolworths, Thrupps, Hair Salon, hey even the florist,sure,... Kitchen.........................!!

Now what do you think about the price of Gatorskins?Wink

Also what tipe of riding or racing does she do?

No racing, and she maybe rides 300kms per MONTH in Summer, much less (like zero) in winter, then she only rides two events a year, the 94.7 and The Argus. Last year she spent so long at the 94.7 halfway point getting a massage, drinking cooldrinks, (even had a sandwich I believe) the marshalls came over and asked her if she knew this was only "half way" and she still has another 50 odd kms to go.!Big%20smile

Which brings me back to my original point, she didnt need Gators, why did the shop just assume it was okay to sell them to her.?

In my view retail is not just about getting the sale, theres also ethics, you need to find out whats right and appropriate for your customer, not judge the sale by the size of the customers wallet.

OK porky did ur wife go to a bike shop where u guys are known or did she pick one as she drove passed. If they knew her from before and what kind of riding she does, then they are po...ses, but if she walked in willy nilly into any shop, they sold her a safe set of tyres. My suggestion take them off and bring back to the shop slightly shop soiled and tell them how pissed off you are, and change for what u want her wheels. ok????. from a woman in the kitchens perspective. U are a bunch of MC P's and i hope your wives don't read what you write about them. EmbarrassedEmbarrassedEmbarrassed

And i am definitely not up tight

Hot Stuff, firstly, you need to loosen up a bit.!

Yes, it was a random shop, why would this matter, dos this now mean they can dispense with the programme of "finding out" what kind of riding she dos and sell her an expensive tyre.?

I dont take things back, but I wont visit that shop again, so as a future customer, not gonna happen, I only get suckered once.!

So Yah, the tyres are on the bike, will probably only see duty in September again and die of old age long before they get worn out.

MC"P s hey, stop taking things so literally.!

You got that right. A bike shop should ask Questions when someone buys. When I changed my tyres they asked what type of riding I do and sugested from there, they also offered different prices on different makes.

Not much, about as little as I think of the lack of discipline you impose at home. Shame on you.
