The Fountains race in Benoni started off at hard pace as the four Team Nashua Telecoms riders took charge of the race from the beginning.   Other teams defending the attacks were Konica-Minolta, Repro-Signs, Club 100, Mr Price, making a start group of about 45 girls.  The first 5km saw a string of attacks leaving a trail of chasing ladies down the road with only about ten hanging onto the main bunch, too tired to close down a break away attempt by AnLi Pretorius (Nashua Telecoms).

As Yolande Du Toit (Konica-Minolta) tried to close the widening gap, Jo Van De Winkel (Nashua Telecoms), attacked and also managed to get away from the chasing group.  Altie Clark and Sanet Smal (both Nashua Telecoms) helped to slow down the group as the two Nashua Telecoms girls began their 90km time-trial on the windy flat route.  Konica-Minolta and a few other ladies tried to bridge the gap which saw more ladies drop from the chasing group allowing Yolande and Altie to further increase the time gap.

AnLi Pretorius showed her true time-trialling skills by soloing the race in 02.35.17  Unfortunately, Jo Van De Winkel who was 20sec behind Pretorius, at the final turn to the finish, was directed straight and continued onto a third lap of the course giving Yolandi du Toit the 2nd place in 02.41.28  Altie Clark finished close behind in the 3rd place in 02.43.16.
