I see on the CRC site that Mavic rims are not to be sold outside the EU. But when I build a set and add it to my basket I can continue the transcation all the way to where I need to put in my CC details. When are they letting you know they are not selling it to non-EU countries or is it just a legal disclaimer?

They mailed me the other day saying they will not ship mavic to South Africa.?? However Totalcycling will do but you have to return the wheels to them in case of warranty claim. Have not bought from them before though, any experiences with them???

I just want rims built onto XT hubs so there will not rally be any warrantee claims. They can even peel of the stickers if they want to.

I had a set of Mavic 819's built onto Hope hubs and had them sent over no problems, although I also saw the disclaimer, but chose to ignore it.

The wheel build was pretty crap though. I had to get the spokes correctly tensioned here for a nominal fee. I notified CRC of the shoddy build and they refunded me the cost of the tensioning.

Top notch customer service if you ask me.

TotalCycling are starting to slip at the moment. I used to have no issues with them but my latest order has been several weeks without any action. Had a look on the Roadbike Review forums and quite a few people are having issues with them.

I've bought from them a few times (most recently in the middle of last month) as they tend to be a lot cheaper than CRC on road stuff.

Their service has been pretty much the same as CRC: both respond to emails, both ship quickly when items are in stock, both seem to take forever when items are not in stock. The major difference is that CRC's inventory management system is linked to their site so you can immediately see whether something is in stock and decide whether or not you want to buy it.
