Man you okes talk a lot of crap...

as always I'm sure there is much more to this story than "I don't want to drive 5.5km to see you..."

a public forum should only really be used as a last resort...could you really not have dealt with this behind closed doors first...?

Always happens... Blow up followed by ooops sorry. Rather make sure and save yourself the trouble.

Excellent so the shop down the road can benifit... Its really big of you to make the choice without phoning Le Peloton and speaking to the people in charge of the company about your issues - insted you splash your k@k on a public forum so people feel sorry for you...

Quite rich from a @sshole posting in obscurity.  Maybe you should update your member profile, then we can see who you are AngryAngryAngryAngry

This is almost like the "I'll break up with you before you break up with me type scenario".  Saying that you won't deal with Specialized anymore is a bit pointless if they have already said they won't deal with you.

There could be many reasons.  Maybe you haven't paid on time, or maybe you are just not selling enough.  If the shop down the road is turning over more Specialized goods and also selling the bikes then as a rep it makes more sense for them to put more effort into that shop.

Also you posted what your shop assistant told you.  Ever heard of broken telephone.  Have you actually spoken to the rep yourself?

well the spaz specialised guy talked to the eployees and not the owner. His first mistake. .  if he didn't know who the owner was what does it tell you about what he knows about the shop?

If he needed to meet with the guy he could have phoned him for an appointment. . .

I am not the type that critisize easily, BUT:

I have in the past been to 2 MAJOR cycling shops in Pretoria, and stood in the one shop for almost an hour and in the other one around 45mins! Without even a hallo from the sales persons, not to mention the help I was looking for.

As this shops made millions a year I thought they would be able to assist me in making the right choice in buying a bike (at least this is what their ads promise). I was prepared to spend some serious cash on a top of the range full suspension.

Even when complaining about it I was told to drive from Pretoria to JHB, then I would get better serviceWacko!!

This has inspired me to start my own cycling bussiness, so I took the cash and invest it in a small bussiness, not to get rich but help my fellow cyclists out.

The shops should remember that it is the clients that put bread on their table, and they tend to sometimes forget it. So to the shop owners LOOK after your clients, and for the clients support your local shops. If you are unhappy about the service, inform the owner/manager and try to resolve the issue.

And the distrubitors of brands, O boy! Why are you so picky about who sells your productsWacko? The more shops yuo have that sells you products the more money you will make, common sense or not? I know that you have to protect your brand but rather than just say NO, look at all aspects of the bussiness relationship.

In difficult times like we live in today, it is time that we as bussiness owners give back to our customers that have helped us grow our bussinesses in the good times!!

I would like to here the other side - I have my doubts that we will. Many

industry goers do well to stay clear of the trash talk on here. I would

also love to know the name of your store...

My experiance when I started out rideing and asked alot of questions to alot of differant people, has also left a bit of a sour tast towards the special brand in my mouth, exept that thier stuff is so expensive they kept talking anything els I was mentioning down and elevating thier product.

It might have been better but did not like the way it was done at all and it set me off totally.

Toyday the rep from Specialized came to see me.  I weren`t there so he left a meassage  to  one of my guys working for me. I am doing everything of Specialized' date=' ecept the bikes.

Apparently he greeted the person working for me,very nicely and started talking that  their sales (Specialized) are quite down due  to the resession and business  not doing that well overall, which is true and a big concern to all of us.

He then told me that due to the fact that I do not spend enough money with him on a monthly basis, he is going to withdraw my agency to sell Specialized. Where I live there is another shop doing Specialized, but according to him I am costing him money to drive to me.

I AM  SPEECHLESS:

He stated that bussiness is  bad overall and still he wants to withdraw the agency from me.

Secondly,  he has to drive down to come and see the other retail  shop and I am exactly 5,5km away from  him.

Thirdly  he has the  odasity to tell this to people working for  me  and not to speak the owner himself. One of  my guys phoned me  to give me the news.

If you are a representitive of a company that is an  international brand then  surely your conduct has to be the same.

Is this normal practise? He said he will send me a letter to inform me.

Then lastly: IF THERE WEREN`T ANY RIDERS THERE WON`T BE ANY RETAIL SHOPS, IF THERE IS NO MORE RETAIL SHOPS THEN THERE WILL BE NO MORE SUPPLIERS AND NO MORE SUPPLIERS MEAN NO MORE REPS!!So in these times if they can do without my orders and then not getting money from me, so be it!!

Why on earth if you are down on sales, are cuttting an accessory shop?

if it was a bike shop that is not selling your bikes I could understand.

there is an otherside to the story I am sure, and the other guy has been invited to comment and he does know about this.

so there are two ways you can look at this he either feels that he is not going to lower his standards to ake a comment

or what was said was the truth and he is to ashamed to say something due to fact that he will get flamed if he was wrong.

Amazing really....

I own a Specialized frame. I bought it from Kiwi right here on the hub. I didn't go to a shop that stocks the brand I just bought it. That, the Specialized bottle cage on my MTB and my MTB shoes are the items that I own from that brand. And yet when I phoned Le Peloton (and got their number off the Specialized website) to enquire about testing a saddle I: 1. Got a call back after I left a message for the relevant person; 2. He asked me a million questions about everything not just my saddle and why and how; 3. He made an appointment with me to help me choose a saddle that will be comfortable for me and hopefully help me in the long run with my performace; 4. He spent hours setting up everything; 5. I tried on 3 saddles before I knew which saddle I can now purchase;

I was a normal person, not a shop, calling from who knows where to enquire about a saddle. If they went so far for me why wouldn't they extend the same service to someone who sells their brand???

I have only good experience with Specialized. I love everything I own of theirs and once I grow up I'll get a MTB too!

What amazes me more is that people are ready to write off a brand just because someone said something. We don't know the people posting the stuff half the time anyway.....why take their word? And the other thing....retailers, pro riders, sponsors......they all read this wonderful site, don't be fooled. And the lesson we've learnt in the last few months is that we should be careful what we say....bored girl2009-07-08 01:08:37
