Damage to my bike/pocket - 2 sets of new brake pads and a complete service - strip and gear cablesMy son also had a similar experience at the Kabouga race near Addo on this past Sunday - he turned back after 11km while lying 2nd in the race. The winner apparently had over R2000 mud damage. once the bike is dirty, mud in the shiftercables and grinding paste in the brakes, might as well just finish the race and enjoy it.

Well I'm 34 and cycling is a great sport 'cause your never too old. Will first do local events like the Cape Pioneer (2010 or 2011). Guess after that I'll give an African country a go, will consider Senegal and Mali once we reopen our offices there.
Yang Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Sometimes you just can't carry on, with all the will in the world, unless you pack your bike on your shoulder and haul it home, 16k's away, with clay glued to your wheels adding an extra 10 kg's, slipping and sliding on plates of clay stuck to your shoes. CLAY, not just mud. Ooooffff.
