Have just read the May issue of MTB Action, they have an artical about improving v brake performance (Not everyone has Disk Brakes) by installing a set of Kool-Stop interchangeable brake pads with Tectronic pad holders and replacing the standard brake cables with Nokon cables. Supposed to be easier to adjust the pads, last longer and more braking power!!??

Anyone tried this combo or the nokon cables, would appreciate any feedback if so.

I've tried a very similar setup with Kool-stops and the results are awesome. Nokon cables are expensive but they're worth every cents (or euro smileys/smiley2.gif) when you feel how smooth they are. You could compare it (very favourably) to the best cable-pull disks on the market.

Nokon cables are great.  Was very useful in lightening the action required on my road bike for gear shifting and braking after my fall last year (sprained both wrists).  Definitely helped on those long mountain descents.  Plus of course they look cool especially when you have loads of cash and buy two colours and mix and match a la MBA.

I've been using a very similar product to the Nokon cables on my Mtb. Breaking power is greatly increased and you get much more direct feel on your brakes. The coolstop brakepads are awesome, worth the upgrade! If you've got a decent set of V-brakes you dont need discs! They are much lighter, less of a hassle and can perform just as good if not better!
