Hi

Guys

I have a set of shimano WHR535 wheels that have have been awesome.

They have done very high milage but have been serviced on a regular intervals.

Recently i wanted to get a new set of hubs for them and was told that shimano dont make them any more. The reason for wanting new ones is because the hubs even though they have been serviced , no longer run smoothley any more.

Would it be possible to change them to sealed bearing type hubs or would this be a total waste of time ?. Are there any other similar type hubs that i might be able to replace these with ?

Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot convert those hubs to cartridge bearing hubs.

The hubs may not be as bad as you think. What do the races look like inside? What are the condition of the cones? Have someone take them out for you and make a judgement call.

Even slightly pitted races, with new balls and new cones are still fine for everyday use. Just 'cause they're not as smooth as new doesn't mean they're history.
